Contract info for Joseph and Raiola revealed

ByBRIAN CHRISTOPHERSON 45 minutes ago

The contracts of two the recent Husker assistant coaching hires have been finalized and made public to Husker247, per requests.

Nebraska wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator/associate head coach Mickey Joseph will make $600,000 per season, with his deal running through the end of 2023. Offensive line coach Donovan Raiola will make $325,000, also on a two-year deal. Both coaches signed their deals this past Friday, with UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green's signature going on it today to complete the agreement.

Matt Lubick, who was previously the wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator, was making $500,000 in 2021, and previous O-line coach/run game coordinator Greg Austin was also at $500,000. Running backs coach Ryan Held was at $400,000, while QBs coach Mario Verduzco was making $375,000.

The contract info of newly hired offensive coordinator Mark Whipple was not yet available.

Husker head coach Scott Frost has also not made an official announcement of who is filling his final full-time assistant coaching space, and how any assignments could shift in connection to that.

"Those are decisions that we still have to make," Frost said this past Wednesday. "I think I am really close to getting those things done. Regardless where it lands, I know we are going to be coached really well at running back and on special teams. Wanted to get the coordinator thing done first and ended up having an opportunity to hire Mickey – so got that done before the coordinator and then found the offensive line coach that I wanted.

"We got one more spot left and now with Signing Day (done), I imagine I will turn my full attention to that. But I have a pretty good idea on what I want to do, and I think it will be coming pretty quick and I feel good about us being coached well at both running back and special teams.”

Ravioli may end up being worth over double his salary, but I really wish we’d have brought in someone that was worthy of a big number for that spot, or someone that you want/have to pay big $ for.. The Huskers have had average to poor OL play for far too long given the history of the program.

This may be one of the greatest auto-corrects of all time. And it would be perfect if he were Italian, not Polynesian. But once a nickname gets tossed out there ...
