January 2026 Recruiting thread

Why couldn’t we have taken Dayton as a token and Thomalla and just explained to Thomalla that he’s the only QB in the class? Seems like another unforced error trying to play five d chess.
Probably would never have been able to get Trae Taylor if we recruited Thomalla into the 2026 class

4-star DL Dylan Berymon to reveal decision on National Signing Day: 'I know where I wanna go'

Dylan Berymon is the top unsigned prospect in America.

The 4-star defensive lineman is down to Kentucky and Nebraska, and will reveal his college commitment on February 4.

The Rivals Industry Ranking No. 25 defensive lineman in the 2026 class and his family privately came to a decision over the weekend.

“It’s been a real blessing for me to get to this point … from me being committed to Texas and not getting to sign early. It was good for me not to sign early,” Berymon told Rivals. “God makes those decisions for you, and I feel really good about these two schools.”

“It’s real tight,” he continued on the race between the Huskers and Wildcats, which will persist through next Wednesday. “I know where I wanna go. My family and I came to a decision. We all know where I wanna go — and when that day comes to put pen to paper, I’ll do my part.”

Kentucky hosted Berymon for an official visit on January 16-18 weekend and have been stacking talent through the Transfer Portal and high school ranks to find the right pieces for new defensive coordinator Jay Bateman.

Bateman recruited Berymon in the same role at Texas A&M. His time in Lexington was an eye-opener for the 4-star DL target.

“It was real big for me. Of course everybody is thinking Kentucky is a bad place with a losing record – the problem didnt have right caches there,” he started. “The new coaches there laying big part in role bringing key players in. It’s been a good job by the Coach Bateman, coming from Texas A&M and still trying to get Louisiana boys on his team. When he was at A&M, he played a big role in that.”

“When I went down there,” he added on Kentucky, “it felt like home.”

The official visit to Nebraska on January 9-11 yielded similar returns for Berymon, who declared the Huskers were on top after getting his first look around Lincoln.

Matt Rhule and first-year assistant Corey Brown made visits to Louisiana to visit the touted defensive lineman, which furthered the Huskers’ position.

“That made it feel like I could come in and play,” Berymon detailed. “It ain’t too many high schoolers, especially with the head coach coming down to see you. There aren’t many high school recruits getting the head coach down here and getting to talk with him, and for him to make it ot the school.”

“The Transfer Portal is messing over a lot of high school kids right now, so for me me getting the opportunity to take those visits and for them to come down to show me I’m real important to them is big to me,” he continued. “Of course, for Coach Rhule to come … That played a big part in this, too. Nebraska excites me a lot. I fit in their scheme … very well. That’s that really excites me.”

Berymon is tabbed as the No. 218 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 9 player from the state of Louisiana.

I haven't seen any off-campus mentions from coaches/recruits here in January. The only mention was from Blake Betton while he was in Lincoln on a visit.
If he was on the trail previously, he was then switched out for Corey Brown.

It makes sense since most of his recruiting areas also have other / better recruiters attached to them.

I remembered seeing Dvoracek, but I think it was on the Betton visit in Lincoln you just mentioned. Thought he was on the road. Looks like I was wrong.

Kowtowing to the high school girlfriend is amateur hour. The SEC brings the kid to campus and shows him what’s on the other side of the rainbow.
Sooo…what’s on the other side of the rainbow? A BBL blonde chick?
