January 2026 Recruiting thread

TimV on Berymon:

Asked about this year.

"Fully expecting him to be a contributor, he's got a high, high motor for his size and won't need much time at all to get adjusted to the speed of the college game."

Also.

"He's a qualifier, don't think there's any question there. For a lot of this recruitment there was a feeling he was LSU or Texas' to lost. Texas held his commitment for a while and during that time no one really communicated with him besides LSU and Ole Miss. By the time he decommitted, most programs felt he was simply LSU bound which is why very few programs circled back.

He's a small-town kid who handled his recruitment very quietly. I have a story I'll share on him once he's signed (even if it's not Nebraska)."

Why is 31 y/o Corch Rob Davorchecker not constantly out on the road recruiting? Am I missing something or does he have the cushiest job for reasons that are not understandable?

Intel: Nebraska working to flip multiple 2027 defensive backs

by: Tim Verghese2 hours agoTimVerghese

Nebraska holds one defensive back commitment to date from elite in-state safety Tory Pittman III. Defensive backs coach Addison Williams has the Huskers in the mix for some of the nation’s top cornerbacks and safeties to pair with Pittman.

Nebraska recently joined the mix for a few 2027 defensive backs currently committed elsewhere, adding to a growing, talented board at the position. Here’s the latest on the Huskers’ efforts to flip some defensive back talent.

Nebraska is working to flip multiple Florida State commits in the 2027 cycle. Defensive assistant Philip Simpson, coincidentally a former Florida State staffer, stopped through Ruskin (Fla.) Lennard last week to offer four-star safety Mekhi Williams, who’s been committed to the Seminoles since March. The 6-foot-2, 170 pounder now plans to visit Nebraska this offseason and the Huskers will push to earn an official visit as well this summer. The four-star ranks as the No. 11 safety nationally in the 2027 cycle. While committed to Florida State, he’s continued to entertain the likes of Auburn, UCF, Wisconsin, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Florida and Miami. Nebraska now joins that mix.

Simpson later stopped through Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Plantation to offer three-star cornerback Jemari Foreman, who’s been committed to Florida State since September. The 6-foot, 165 pound junior is now planning to visit Nebraska this offseason as well, working to line up a date to fly up to Lincoln. Foreman has seen his stock rise after posting 70 tackles, nine tackles for loss and eleven interceptions as a junior. Oklahoma, Cal and West Virginia are among recent offers for the rising defensive back. He also holds offers from Indiana, Miami, Auburn, Kentucky and Pitt, among others.

Nebraska is also a top contender for Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Western four-star cornerback Bryce Williams, a former Florida State commit who recruitment is now re-opened. The Huskers are battling Florida, Miami and more for the 6-foot-2, 175 pound defensive back. Addison Williams recently went in-home with the No. 16 cornerback per Rivals.

Addison Williams stopped through his alma mater, Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake to offer 2027 three-star cornerback Brandon Allen Jr.. The 6-foot-2 cornerback has been committed to Mississippi State since September but has recently picked up offers from the likes of Florida State, Vanderbilt, North Carolina and of course, Nebraska. Williams’ ties to Westlake have the Huskers on the rise with Allen, who would “love” an opportunity to visit Lincoln this offseason.

USC recently picked up a commitment from 2027 Santa Ana (Cali.) Mater Dei four-star cornerback Aaryn Washington, edging out Nebraska, Ohio State, Washington, Georgia and Alabama for one of the nation’s top cover corners. Washington aims to keep his recruitment shut down, having committed, but the Huskers aren’t expected to fully let up until he signs in December.
