James Franklin staying put..

Looking at this from a Nebraska prospective…this makes me a bit more optimistic that IF Frost tanks next season that #2ndChoice could still be at Cincy and a potential HC target.

Hey Mel got this for winning a few games....I won the B1G...Soo do you want to end this speculation or no that happens every year?

@Elizabeth Reed be like.....

Wait wait wait. Am I reading that buyout correctly? If the university fires him without cause, he's owed his base+supplemental ($7 million) + insurance ($1 million) for $8 million a year, multiplied by the number of years left on his contract? So if he's fired with 9 years left without cause and no negotiations are done, Penn St. needs to pony up $72million?

And THIS is for a coach who went 4-5 last year and is 2-4 in his last six games? With the possibility of going 2-5 to cap a 7-5 season?

FUCK.

FUCK.

Well it is an academic institution, so oftentimes their business sense is whack. I'd be embarrassed if I was the AD and that's how is contract was structured.

If coach had leverage, I'd think Administration would need to figure out a way to come up with their own leverage. Probably not an easy solution, but fuck some of these contracts are ridiculous.

So my math was wrong. If it's $8 million (base + supplemental + loan) and he's fired with $9 years left, that's a $72 million buyout.

I feel like this can't be right. Just just seems absurdly stupid, but that's how I'm reading the contract.

I guess do you feel better about Matt Campbell fully guaranteed at $35ish or Franklin fully guaranteed at $70ish?

In my opinion, in this situation, PSU’s leverage was “We like our chances of finding a coach just as good if not better than you without having to structure his contract like he’s Mike fucking Trout.”

Can someone use their crayons to explain the difference between base pay and supplemental pay?

A lot of my Pedo State friends are pissed about this deal and wished that Franklin would have left. I’m sure Ryan Day will get his pay bump at the end of the season for whooping everyone’s ass in the conference.
