ITT we show our Christmas gifts

Had the kids back under our roof last night, and we broke down and opened all of our Christmas gifts last night in a paper shredding frenzy. Since my kids are all adults now, it was fun for my wife and I to see what they picked out for us.

From my son (a very nice pickle ball paddle):


From my daughter (a very nice hand sewn buttstock cartridge holder and basket weave sling for my Marlin SBL 1895 rifle):


From my wife (an ultrasonic cleaner for gun parts, jewelry, automotive parts, gun parts, tools and gun parts - I'll probably use it mostly for cleaning gun parts):


While those things are great - and I was really happy to receive them - the gift I am looking forward to the most is Christmas dinner with my wife, kids and Dad this afternoon. Just having my immediate family under one roof and getting to enjoy each other's company again this holiday season is the biggest gift this Dad could ask for and receive. Plus, Mrs. LHR has whipped up a batch of her infamous "avocado chicken", which should make napping to the NFL games much easier this afternoon.

We just bought a house so we agreed that we’d go lighter on the gifts to each other this year, which my wife took to mean buying me an expensive vest I wanted, two pairs of pants, three button up shirts, five pairs of lululemon underwear, and six pairs of J Crew socks.

I’m thankful that I get to be with my extended family this week for the first time in two years. Majority of them have never met my son and it’ll be nice to be able to have a vacation in California again, even if nobody is willing to be indoors for long.

At my dad's age I've been trying to focus more on experiences rather than stuff. This year we got him a bucket lister. A black bear hunt that he's been talking about for years. He will likely start packing next week for his September hunt.

Got a few different clothes I'd been wanting, a mini drone and some ammo. But the best was a personalized plaque with a picture of my son and I on it with a message from him and mom. Got me in the feels good.

I got one last year for the camper. I love that damned thing - it's FANTASTIC for whipping up breakfast on.
