Is Fred the coach next year?

Wilcher is a lost cause for me. He was decent last year, but has seemingly regressed big time. It almost seems like he has the yipps or something...all his confidence seems to be gone.
My concern with Wilcher is his limited athletic ability. Not quick enough to create his own shot. Has no Ups, not even sure he has ever dunked. Slow feet. Not a great ball handler, defender or rebounder. He literally is 3 Dependent to contribute. Would Wilcher have started for any other B1G team this season or last season? I have no problem with him coming off of the bench being an INstant Offense Chucker if he can make the 3's. But we need the other pieces too as teams aren't worried much about Dawson, Breidenbach, Hoiberg, Blaise or Lawrence on offense. Outside of Gary & Keisei who do we have that is a proven scorer coming back? I think Lawrence will continue to improve and be a good offensive & defensive player for us.

Once a game during an important posession Wilcher will turn the ball over in the most inexplicable way.

Not ready to give up on him. But admittedly, my leash is longer than most people’s.

Breidenbach does not equal eye for talent nor does wilcher. Few misses but he’s had some hits too
My thoughts were more Lawrence and Dawson. The Matty A experiment obviously did not work out. My understanding is he was responsible for the majority, but I don't believe that was the case with Lawrence and Dawson. I think Wilcher was a Matty A deal to try to get his younger brother as well. Why Fred let him handle ALLL the recruiting? No idea.

Fred has been a colossal failure here unfortunately, and he doesn't really have the charisma or personality to build support or excitement about the future. If NU is serious about having a decent bball program, we should get a new coach.

However, I don't think NU is serious about having a decent bball team RIGHT NOW. I think pretty much all the focus and resources are (rightly) being put on football, and that will get Fred another year. It's just not even remotely as important as getting the Rhule era off to a good start, so I think they'll just let this season slide rather than have any more turmoil in the athletic department.

If next bball season is yet another repeat, we'll get a new coach at that point.

I agree those were a couple of Fred’s hits. Hope it continues if they keep him.
