I'm not saying that Mickey is getting the job, but....

Auburn fans, alums, and boosters are a different level of crazy. Malzahn literally had Auburn ranked in the top 10 every season he was there.

They then ran Bo Nix out of town. That kid was Mr. Auburn. He was a 3rd generation Auburn Tiger. He attended every game growing up. His family had season tickets to every Auburn sporting event... and he was actually a good player.

He is potentially going to finish his college career with 11,000 total yards and 100 total TDs.

Auburn had to settle on Bryan Harsin because no other good coach wanted to deal with that shitshow.
If Harsin was fired, who do you think they would want?

You have to give Mickey a serious look if he can get the win total to 7 games. Sweep October, and win 2 out of 4 against our tougher opponents in November. Actually, if he can win 6 and get to a bowl game, that will be nothing short of a miracle considering how this team started out ..

Bring on Vance as DC, keep Busch, Applewhite, and Fisher .. and you have the recipe for a really nice staff with some good recruiters .;.;. we could do a lot worse than a Joseph hire in that scenerio. Worst case, I absolutely hope Mickey is retained as an Assistant if he doesn't get the HC job.
I’ve heard he would bring brother Vance and his cousin Terry on staff. I’d assume Busch would coach safeties and ST. Applewhite would be RB coach. Curious what Whipple would do. He would focus on really good coaches who could recruit.

I would take that.

I find it hard to believe an NFL DC would leave for college DC even if his brother is HC.

He might for 2 million and if it meant Mickey getting the job. They talk every day according to Mickey.

I think they're close, but man is it a lot of pressure for your brother to get his effective dream job and you having to parachute back into college football and put together a great. Vance and cousin Terry are incredibly qualified but this kind of feels like a "don't loan money to family" situation.

Worked out great for Bo

The only reason I think there is a chance is because those two are so close. I don’t think we will make a bowl game, so it probably won’t matter, but I hope Mickey proves me wrong and takes the job by winning games this year.

Yeah. I don't that Carl had other options though. Bo hired him to be the DC when he was the Ohio DL coach. It's a lot to give up an NFL DC (and possibly second shot at NFL HC-ing) to come work for your brother when you know it might not work out.

What if he's making 2 mil already?
He is making 2 million. Maybe you have to pay him more. I assume if Mickey gets the job he will be making 4-5 million a year. You should have a huge assistant pool if you’re serious. Hell Illinois is paying their DC north of a million. Even if Mickey won the job and didn’t get his brother to come here there is no reason we can’t pay a proven DC 1-2 million a year.

If we could get an NFL DC to take over as DC and one of the top DB coaches in America to come in as well, I'm totally here for it, but it definitely reads like fan fiction at this point.

But agreed. I think we file under irrelevant until we're all so surprised that we are hoisting the trophy in Indy and head to the rose bowl that we can't speak.

Yeah you add Vance and Terry and keep Busch and I don't even care who is on the offensive side.

What if Mick could get Eddie O to coach the DL as well? ThAt would be in hell of a recruiting staff
Maybe 2 million to grab Joe Brady as the OC/QB coach
Put the LSU band back together…
I’m starting to warm up to the thought of this…

I mean there’s more than a remote chance that Kingsbury and staff are fired in Arizona this year if they don’t have a great year with they way Arizona finished last year. I think that could certainly be a factor.
