What's up with that guy?

His recruitment and subsequent activity following his commitment couldn't be more different when compared to his brother.

What is he up to? Where is he?

Dylan was at every event, camp, all star game that you could think of. He was flying to LA to work out with QB gurus. He was at every Husker event imaginable posing for pictures. Elite camps. Hawaii. You name it we had photos of him doing it.

As far as Dayton goes, I've seen none of that stuff. Honestly it annoyed me when Dylan was everywhere, so did the Raiola family decide Dayton wouldn't do all of that? Or maybe he is working out with gurus and all that but it's just not being publicized. I don't know. Does anyone have any idea? Seems like Trae Taylor is the guy they are building recruiting off of in the same style as Dylan. Dayton can't be found for recruiting, or am I just missing it?

Dylan was the #1 overall player in the class of 2024 at one point. Dayton…. Is not
So, then Nebraska is gonna treat him like a less important recruit who won't be peer recruiting, he's not invited to the Polynesian bowl and he won't be working out with NFL QB coaches?

It's a strange situation, if you ask me. It's almost like he's been forgotten, which to me, is weird for a QB recruit to a major conference CFB Blue Blood.

He works out with the same QB coach as his brother.

I don’t have an answer for you and agree curiosity is warranted. I suspect that he’s not as outgoing as Dylan and the fact he’s a mid tier three star who has only ever wanted to play for Nebraska means other people (recruits and media) don’t find him interesting. Therefore, pier recruiting wouldn’t be effective.

I also imagine he’s always been in his brothers shadow and whenever he tries to show off his personality he gets ribbed for not being Dylan. So he just doesn’t put himself out there.

It's interesting. He's been in his brother's shadow his whole life. When you Google him it even says Dylan Raiola's brother in the caption. Last year was the first year he was able to start to somewhere. He starts at a high level school at Buford. Will see if he blows up any this next year. FWIW Sip said he is actually more personable in person than Dylan. He has his own things going on and does a lot of things that Dylan does but doesn't seen to get the attention.

On the flip side I have no idea how good he can be I hope for him and the coaches sake that he will be because if not they had a high level QB with offers from Alabama in their backyard and will never hear the end of it for not taking him if he isn't.

I also read/heard that he's basically a year behind because of his brother. They were saying a top QB usually is starting by their sophomore year which he wasn't able to do because Dylan was the starter. It will be interesting to see what he can do now that he is out of his brother's shadow. If it ends up not working out the blow will be lessened by having Trae Taylor in the next class.

Dayton was in Lincoln multiple times this spring and I'll bet he makes back in June to help recruit. He works out with the same QB coach Dylan does.

I think the only real difference is that Dylan was a 5* top ranked recruit who's every move made the news. He was already a star who committed to OSU and Georgia before NU.

Dayton also seems to be the more reserved, quieter type who just doesn't attract as much attention.

Dylan was the #1 guy with a lot of drama especially for Nebraska fans. Ohio State, Nebraska back in the mix, Georgia, then eventually Nebraska. I think Dayton is doing the work but its not as flashy at the moment. Dayton starts to land a few big offers and gets another star fans will start to pay more attention to him unfortunately its the nature of the beast when it comes to recruiting.

Nebraska isn't treating him any different. They can't, NCAA recruiting rules, can't even say he's committed until he signs.

The media hype and reporting around a 5* that is a top recruit nationally vs a high 3 star is what you are seeing. Nebraska doesn't control the Polynesian bowl invites, which Dayton might still go to.

Not sure what you are surprised about with the huge difference in their rankings.

All those all-star games and whatnot came after Dylan's senior year, right?
Dayton has another year of high school to go yet.
And it seems like he's been in Lincoln pretty freuqesntly for some of the visit dates.

I am not really seeing this big contrast you are describing other than the notariety that comes with being the No. 1 recruit in the country, which Dylan was and Dayton is not.

I’d bet the last paragraph carries the most truth. He’s probably a smart kid who is Savy enough to not do too much.

Smart.

He's going into his 2nd year of starting at the varsity level. I actually expect his ranking to improve. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up a low 4 star. The kid absolutely has arm talent and is more mobile than his brother.

I would guess his recruitment is actually hurt by Dylan and he also committed to Nebraska really early. If he was uncommitted right now and open to other schools, you would probably hear more about him. He seems like a decent prospect? Does he ever start at Nebraska? Who to say. The QB room will change very year. MY money is on the next starter at Nebraska being a transfer after Dylan.

I've totally lost any interest in recruiting because of the transfer portal. I think we have signed some pretty good QBs lately? I have no expectation to see any of them play at Nebraska though. There's a chance they might! But there's probably an even better chance that we'll have entirely different QBs on the roster by the time it would be their turn to play.

Exactly, you see people speculating and they are like, when Raiola goes ot the NFL, we will have Lateef for two years, then Dayton for 2 years, and then Trae Taylor will come in.... Its like no what will really happen is Lateef and Davila will transfer out after the end of this season. We will get some random transfer as our #2. Raiola will finish his JR year, random transfer again and we will get a new random transfer to come in to be the starter in 2027. If he is a 1 year starter, Dayton and Trae Taylor stays a year to compete, but if they are not up to snuff we get another transfer QB and those guys transfer out.

From a percentage standpoint the chances of Thomalla starting at Nebraska one day isnt probably significantly different from Dayton starting one day due to the portal. I hope Thomalla goes out, kicks ass at ISU, and then if Nebraska has to dip into the portal we got a potential option.
