I suggest making a 6'8 300lb QB with 99 speed and 99 throwing power/accuracy. That should help.

I was making fun of my kid for watching people play video games on YouTube to one of my employees. He of course ended up being a dork like you and my son. He explained it to me this way:

Joe (employee) "You watch football on TV right?"

Me "Of course I do. Like any normal human."

Joe "Well it's really the same thing. You're watching people play a game and so are we."

Me "It's not the same thing. I would fire you for being a dork but since we're accountants people expect that anyway."
