Dropping pounds: A number of offensive linemen lost weight compared to their 2021 roster profiles.
Henry Lutovsky went from 330 to 310 pounds. Trent Hixson went from 320 to 305. Broc Bando went from 315 to 295. Bryce Benhart went from 330 to 315.
One lineman, Teddy Prochazka, actually gained weight — from 305 to 320 — but the sophomore from Elkhorn South was generally the exception to the rule.
Are we going for a leaner look on the o-line now? Leaner lineman for faster and more aggressive o-line?

Jesus we are gonna win 11+ games this year i bet

Almost like our s&c philosophy of "pack as many fucking pounds on these guys as possible " was wrong to begin with.

Honestly, it's like every 3-4 years we go back and forth. One offseason it's "We keep getting outmuscled, but we're finally bulking up and looking like a Big Ten team, look out for these guys getting off the bus!" then after a few seasons it's "We bulked up too much, time to focus on trimming down and getting lean and fast!"

Regardless of coach, it seems like this cycle has been going on for like 20 years now.

Yeah I just thought it was pretty telling that dudes like Farniok and Jaimes were pretty much told that we were doing it wrong and completely changed the way they approached their training to get ready for the nfl

This is true for about every macro philosophy regarding football under the past 3 regimes.

I can remember so many times Pelini or Riley would announce some major shift that either never happened or happened half hearted and then you’re worse off than before because your in a shitty grey zone.

Ex: not big enough to just lean on people but not fast enough to run with smaller teams, don’t practice running the ball enough to be able to run it when you need to/vs good defense but also dedicate just enough time emphasize the run game to make your passing game worse, tweener linemen who can’t get a push vs Big 10 linemen but too big and slow to get hands on smaller linemen from non power conferences or FCS.

No conviction and dedication to a philosophy, no big picture plan to make it eventually work with time, no grand strategy to get to that point, no wonder we can’t win shit.

Sounds like the coaches are just throwing darts and hoping something sticks. They never really had a good plan to begin with it appears ... lets hope they can figure it out ..
Originally when Frost was hired you recall they were gonna get the long lean athletes, add to their frame, and make 1st rounders out of them. Blazin UCF style ball ya know.

Then that philosophy changed to big dudes cause when frost looked at the Cockeye, well them boyz were big.

Fast forward to today, leanin them boyz out. Pass blockin attack fire off the ball style frames.

I’m thinkin if they do these 5 things we’ll finally get some stability at the OL position:

1. RUN THE DAMN BALL!
2. EAT BEEF!
3. ATTACK! Attack style Raiola ball baby!
4. FIRE OFF THE BALL #Raioliaball
5. Bring back the loose fitting breathable jerseys like the Peters boyz had! Helps with SMASHMOUTH football!

We’ll have that 90s swag we all long for before you know it….jmho

The OL weight gain/loss is as seasonal of a copy/paste article as the TO offseason gems of: "we're going to pass more," "the backs will be involved in the passing game," etc.

I think TO was openly trolling the NE media while putting out his smokescreen to hide the fact that it was still going to be 41 pitch, counter trey, and load option.

I've been saying for the better part of 2 decades that the biggest problem with our OL (and the team as a whole) was the lack of a quality pharmaceutical program

until we get the whole damn team on 'roids (and make sure they pass their piss tests) everything else is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic
