Here's his
perfect game profile.
This is more or less what happened from what I remember. He was being recruited by a lot of high level D1 schools going into his freshman year at Elk South which was back in 2020 right at the beginning of Covid. A bunch of schools on him doing the dance around offering, he wanted to go to NU, he knew Bolt from before his time at NU and also had worked out for Bolt before his freshman year in Lincoln. Bolt told him he wouldn't offer him until he saw him pitch in a high school game. Season got cancelled because of Covid. Bolt still wouldn't offer because he hadn't pitched in a high school game. Tennessee basically said we'll offer you right now if you commit right now. So he did and they basically told Bolt to pound sand.
Nationally, he was in the top couple hundred or so, I don't remember exactly. 3 star range. Last summer he went to a couple invitational tournaments and blew just about everybody away. Same thing with individual showcases. Testing numbers were all in the high ninetieth percentiles against historical data and tops at the showcases. He had something like the highest outfield velocity, fastest 10m or 60m time, and like the fourth highest fastball velocity out of everybody there. And my understanding is that these showcases are reserved for cream of the crop only. So him putting up a performance like that got his name in front of just about every MLB team and every other recruiter who hadn't heard of him. Now he's in the top 25 for his class and top 100 for that draft class like I mentioned earlier.
