Dylan Raiola: "Next year the goal is the CFP". His comment got me thinking, what should NU's expectation be for qualifying for a 12 or 14-team CFP?

Bill Moos said of Nebraska basketball & qualifying for the NCAA tournament: "I don't think it's pushing things to say three out of five years." What is the NU FB equivalent of this?

Over the next 10-20 yrs how often should NU fans realistically expect their teams to make a 12 or 14 team CFP?

2/4 years (12 team), 3/4 years (14 team); we also have the resources to be top 4 in the new BIG. Recruiting and development would play an obvious and large part here. At absolute worst it should be 1/3 years, next year winning 9-10 regular season games will go a long ways to getting us there.

The only way we make it 3 out of 5 years is if the playoff expands the number of teams in it.

I went with one out of five if it stays at 12 teams. Oregon, Michigan, OSU, USC, and PSU all have advantages over us.

Not arguing with you - it's your opinion! But you might be making the CFP more exclusive than it is. Or will be.

The CFP moving forward is going to be more B1G/SEC-centric. I think as long as you're in those conferences and you finish in the top 12, you'll make it. Nebraska is spending and recruiting to be at a top 15 level program. I'd expect NU to break into top 12 way more than 1 out of 5 yrs.

I think an AD's expectation (w our facilities and our $$) is 2 out of every 4 yrs.

We won't be seeing 4 teams like BSU, Clemson, SMU and ASU too many yrs. I think they'll stack the deck more toward B1G/SEC or go to 14 teams.

It helps a lot but they haven't capitalized on it consistently since Pete Carroll which is now like 15 years ago
That’s true but they have been a better program than us. I still think most of it comes down to the right coach. I would put USC and PSU at programs we can actually get by or close to. Michigan, OSU, and Oregon are typically going to be top 3 unless Moore is a flop and hopefully he is.

I don't expect Nebraska to ever pull in as much talent on paper so Rhule or whoever is going to have to be one of the best identifiers/developers in America if the playoffs is ever going to be a thing for Nebraska consistently

Rhule needs to get us to 8-9 wins next year. I think there will be more buy in for NIL. I know some aren’t a fan with the way college football has went but this can be an equalizer with us against teams like USC. I know some will disagree with me on this, but I would rather not put 500 million into stadium renovations. Find a way to put as much of it towards the players. As long as you have decent enough facilities you’re good. Players would rather get paid.

Still early, but feels like they’ve already hit on a lot of guys. Much higher than Frost or Riley IMO.

Somewhere in the 2 out of 4 or 2 out of 5 range. I voted 2 out of 4, but 2 out of 5 is likely more realistic?

I believe that if we can somehow break through with 10+ wins next year or the year after, more NIL money will start to come our way. It's about winning. If we start to win, people will be more willing to provide funds to the program because they'll be seeing an ROI...I think.

What we should expect now, 0 for 5. If we are ever able to get the program rolling again, 50% of the time. Should be a PSU or Tennessee level program.
