What are the rules on that then regarding timeframe for an announcement.

if it is a signed contract, typically that document is made public the next day. I think the statute doesn';t provide a time frame; says something like "shall be", so it is implemented as if that means immediately. If it's not a contract, it need not be disclosed.

Just for comparison, USC fired their coach early last season, and then announced Lincoln Riley on Nov 28th, the day after Oklahoma's last regular season game. Anybody wanna raid their boards & see if there's any info out there on how long they sat on that announcement?

I did it early in the year on the OU boards. The intelligence post announcement that boosters heard a number of things that suggested Riley snd USC had an informal agreement early October and finalized details in s face to face session signed the deal and announced. Of course no way to prove that.
