There are very very few coaches out there that Nebraska could hire and I would just be mad. I just am not wired like that. But if they hired Clay Helton I would probably just buy KU gear and cheer for my wife's alma mater or maybe pick a really good team and ride their coat-tails (Georgia probably).

Anybody else on that list I could understand. Helton, no.

I'm curious, please don't look it up - what do you think Helton's record was at USC?

I think he averaged 9 wins a year. I know he had one 10-2 in there as well.

He also couldn't get a power 5 job after averaging that many wins at a power 5 school. There's a reasaon for that.

In my mind those are the type of girls that are great for a vacation fling but not marriage material. Afraid I'd catch her on the Ring Video Doorbell getting oiled up by the Pool Boy.

That's potentially true. Or, maybe there wasn't a job that he loved, so he made a move to a school that he believed we could really win at to help boost his reputation.

He certainly isn't in my top tier of options, or even my second tier. But I think we could do a lot worse.

Actually it's because as soon as recruits from Ed O and Kiffin's classes were gone, they weren't competitive for Pac 12 championships. He did win the South in the covid year but if you remember the Pac 12 had a weird schedule. Like Nebraska, USC is a blue blood. Unlike Nebraska....USC is in a hot bed of recruits and has ruled an entire region of football for 100 years.

His teams are known for being soft. Their offensive and defensive lines were underdeveloped. And he was not recruiting to the level that USC should be.
