I was thinking about the fumble against UTEP. In the past, a play like that would have sent Nebraska into a spiral. Against a team like UTEP we usually would eventually recover and still win but against other competition it would be the beginning of the painful end. Last year the defense seemed to still fight hard even after turnovers which we obviously saw against UTEP with the safety....

...but what was interesting is that the offense came right back out and started marching and didn't stop until the game was out of reach.

That's something new for us. If our offense can become as resilient as the defense and take the miscues not only in stride but also make a noticeable counterpunch then this is a team that is transforming before our very eyes.

Not going to lie. The way we responded took some edge off my PTSD...even within the same game.

I remember thinking the same thing last year when we fumbled away in our own red zone beginning of the northern Illinois game. Came back to piss pound them. That was a good northern Illinois team too.

Let's see how they do against Colorado. It's easy to work past mistakes when you can dominate a team athletically at every position. Colorado at least has dudes to match or even exceed in a few spots. The biggest thing is how they'll handle the bright lights. Lately when the spotlight is biggest, we shit our pants the hardest. All eyes are on this game, especially with Dylans performance last week getting people excited. If they make it through any adversity this game, look out.

Not yet. Let’s see some more before we proclaim all is fixed. I do think Rhule’s culture is taking hold though. There are enough young pups and transfers playing too that they have no memory of the last 5 years. In addition to our senior leadership, we’re way ahead of where we were last year.

Have we turned a corner? In my mind, yes. That was the beauty of the UTEP game - I saw what I needed to see in the mental makeup of our guys. Skillset is important. It's already done. We're not a finished product but Rhule officially turned the corner from the past 10 yrs of incompetence.

I'll caution everybody: even though we've officially turned the corner, that doesn't mean a CU win is automatic. I think this is a 9-3 team but some of those losses could be against teams that are worse than us. That happens in football.

I think so, not so much turned a corner, but moved the program up a bit. This reminds me of the practice after the Michigan game. That is where they learned that poor effort will not be tolerated. This game they learned to be confident and trusting in their plan, coaches and teammates. Everyone played composed, confident and within themselves. It was another step in the right direction.

I know it was only UTEP, but it was extremely evident that the confidence and simple will to make plays happen, and play aggressively was there, compared to times last year, and even during Frost. For the most part, everything looked calculated and that the players knew exactly what their job was each play.

As much as I'd love to say we've turned a proverbial corner .. There's too much PTSD from the past and need to see more of a sample size .. I do like the direction of where we're headed and it's fair to say that's a lot to be hopeful about ..
