Damn that's fucked.Harper Murray is from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and this guy is calling her a traitor for not going to Michigan then teasing her about her dad committing suicide.
There's been a few instances lately of volleyball players responding to rude comments. Another:She needs to take the Joe Rogan approach - don’t read the comments. Not to excuse this asshat, but she’s admittedly been bothered by comments before so why read them.
I think she should have shared the SoB’s name and X handle…instead of blanking it out. That’s pretty f@cked up to even taunt someone about suicide. One of the many reasons why I hate social media. I’d like to say it pertains to Michigan fans, but every fan base has trashy fans like whoever sent that Murray.
It’s the ideal way to do it, but this generation of athlete has lived their entire lives on social media. The idea of not giving strangers access to them online is as foreign to them as dial up internet. If you are an athlete I would say have a public account that is handled by your management team and then a personal one where only your friends and family can see things and communicate with you. There are trolls out there that pose as fans just to upset players. It’s crazy.
I will say the last 4-5 years has shown me how crazy Michigan & tOSU fans can be. I can see why that rivalry is completely nuts amongst the fans which leads to the players obsessing over it & going nuts like this weekend. That’s pretty f@cked up to even taunt someone about suicide. Yeah. It’s unfortunately a losing battle with all the trolls and crazy people. Maybe the University or the agents can help them disconnect. It’s the ideal way to do it, but this generation of athlete has lived their entire lives on social media. They don’t have anything on some of the sec fans.I will say the last 4-5 years has shown me how crazy Michigan & tOSU fans can be. I can see why that rivalry is completely nuts amongst the fans which leads to the players obsessing over it & going nuts like this weekend.

Nebraska volleyball has always been a big deal, but it has really gone mainstream over the last couple of years with the world record Memorial Stadium game, the ESPN documentary, the national commercials, etc. Womens athletics has been starving for and striving for this kind of attention for years. Now they have to understand to take the bad with the good. Increased visibility, increased expectations and increased fan bases are also going to increase instances of you being the target of harassment and ridicule from A) your own fans when you don't meet expectations and B) other team's fans jealous of your success.
And making a tic tok about how wrong this is isn't going to fix it. Like Mr. Webb said above, you just have to learn to not read the comments and ignore and block the haters.
100% agree, that Murray shared post is way over the line but the Krause and Murray complaining about getting criticism about Krause being called out online for horrible play is ridiculous. You are a paid athlete that gets treated like a queen, you better get used to dealing with it. Sorry but Krause was horrible vs Penn State and deserves the criticism but in her defense she has played limited minutes.I agree. Athletes making a post about it will accomplish nothing. It comes with the spotlight of being a top tier athlete and Nebraska volleyball players are top tier. You want the NIL, the benefits and the spotlight, some crappy posters are part of the price. Ignore it or go some place where you don't have a spotlight on you.
If anything posts like what Krause and Murray did will just bring out more shit posters, they are inviting a shit storm, ignore it and it goes away, better yet don't even read it, then you can't react to it at all.
I'm actually a little shocked we haven't seen more stuff like this when it comes to what our football players get, it's 10x worse (or at least more often).100% agree, that Murray shared post is way over the line but the Krause and Murray complaining about getting criticism about Krause being called out online for horrible play is ridiculous. You are a paid athlete that gets treated like a queen, you better get used to dealing with it. Sorry but Krause was horrible vs Gaetz State and deserves the criticism but in her defense she has played limited minutes.
