I just can’t let myself believe Mullen is a legit candidate unless people mean Chris Mullen. If Dan, he’d have to be the first OC in history to have a higher salary than the head coach.

We reached out. There may have been some initial talk(s). But I don’t think it was ever more than that. Frost had three guys he considered his home run hires. They were Chadwell, Mullen, and Lashlee. We had to try and we did. I believe if SMU hadn’t opened up that Lashlee would be our OC.

I think Mullen is gonna spend a year on the shelf. The dude hates recruiting. That doesn’t sound like he’d be the greatest of fits on Saban’s staff unless he only recruits QBs.

glad we reached out, but just seems so far fetched. same with chadwell. i think he's fantastic, but why would he go to coaching purgatory with the good thing he has going? he needs to leverage that without taking a 1-2 year hit to his rep at DONU.

Good article on Harrell here. No doubt the run the ball guys will freak out if he is hired without doing any research. I think if we get a guy like Harrell that increases our chances greatly with guys like Zane Flores and even Raiola.

"That’s where we varied from Coach Leach the most at North Texas and where we’ll continue to vary from him is we believe in running the football and understand to win games, especially at a high level, you’ve got to run the football successfully.
"So again, I don’t mind being tagged with the Air Raid, but we’re not exactly what Leach is and no one is exactly what Leach is, so if you want the true Air Raid you’ve got to find Mike Leach. But I do think his philosophy and his style of offense, his touch has kind of been on all of us.”

You’re never going to get what you don’t ask for. Of those three candidates in that group, Lashlee was clearly the most likely.

lashlee was likely the only one there was even a remote chance with. Mullen and Frost would have seemed like a bad fit together and Chadwell will have better opportunities. Factor in that either would be under a coach that they could coach circles around and it's almost laughable that their agents answered when we showed up on caller ID.

Only thing Nebraska could do with this hire to make Cockeye uncomfortable would be to hire a Black coordinator

I wouldn’t mind at all if we’d go full air raid, but if Harrell comes here then Frost is going to have a say in game plan and we’ll still run the ball plenty
