This got buried in the Aranda thread so figured I’d give it a life of its own.

cORNpORN trying to hint on 247 that Graham Harrell is the new OC

If true, I’m down with it. History of running successful offenses in his young career. P5 coordinating experience. Up-and-comer with ties to Texas and SoCal for recruiting. Also a brief perusal of Twitter shows a decent chunk of Bama fans who are wanting him to come to Tuscaloosa if/when BoB gets a HC gig this cycle.

*gets out his red zone TD rate measuring stick*

In three years as USC's OC, they've went from #58 in red zone TDs in 2019, to #67, and finally to #80 this year. Doesn't really give me warm & fuzzy feelings...

The guy that has started to grow on me is Davis (Army). Army has the 5th best RZ TD conversion.

I am not saying go flexbone. Use Frost's ability to scheme it and Davis ability to have a discipline unit.

Just looking over current the rankings for RZ TD %, Mullen seems like the ideal get - they're currently #9.

Also, a notable contrast: Frost's old boss Chip Kelly has UCLA at #12.

Mullen is absolutely the dream candidate.

If you still live in Nebraska, on the night that it gets announced, make your house as quite as possible and then go outside and listen. You'll hear a faint popping sound which will be run the ball guys taking headers off their roofs.

The locals will freak out for sure. And while USC has passed more than they’ve run the ball during Harrell’s tenure, the split has been between 55/45 and 60/40 Pass/Run in his 3 years so nothing too lopsided.

I'd prefer Mullen or Davis. A discipline and style that would be able to contrast what Frost has seemed to lack rather than seemingly exacerbate where he continues to struggle. Harrell just feels like he would use the Nebraska job to pile up meaningless stats in the BIG and get a better job the next year when Frost is inevitably fired. But I'm just a moron on a message board so who cares.

I guess we will still be soft and not be able to run the ball when we need to. See ya Frost.
