Awkward Love Island GIF by Love Island Australia

2019
- Played in nine games all starting at left guard

2018
- Played in 11 all games, starting in eight of them.
- Helped the offense average 23.8 points and 366.3 yards per game this season.
- Apart of offensive line that set a program DI record for rushing yards in a game with 289 and two players who finished over 100 yards each in Milo Hall (128) and Trae Riek (118).

2017
- Redshirted

Didn’t play in 2020 due to no FSC season due to Covid. Played 2 games at LT in 2021 before being suspended from campus for leaving a loaded gun unattended in his backpack on campus.

I see we’re still trying to find silver linings. This looks like a reach and a half.
Here are two claims:

1. Most high quality transfers have no interest in a losing program that is probably going to keep losing.
2. OL (and a few other positions) are so very bad that taking a ton of shots and hoping something pans out isn't the worst strategy in the world, given 1.

Wonder if this was one of the transfer OL that Raiola bragged about having up his sleeve.

I think we have talent on our line. I also get it would be great to add a couple legit transfers, and hopefully Raiola can coach them up because if he doesn’t a guy like Brennan will get killed.

Homegrown O-lineman announces he's transferring to Husker program

ByBRIAN CHRISTOPHERSON 2 hours ago
Nebraska received a transfer commitment from a homegrown prospect Saturday, with Omaha North graduate Kevin Williams Jr. announcing his plans to be a Husker.

Williams, a 2017 North graduate, has previously been at FCS program Northern Colorado and still has two years to contribute to Nebraska's offensive line, led by new coach Donovan Raiola.

"I’m coming home! Excited to help get the Oline back to tradition! #GBR #MorePancakesThanIHop," Williams tweeted on Saturday afternoon.

Williams told Husker247 that it's a scholarship offer from Nebraska, and it's one he knew he wanted to jump on after getting a chance to meet both Raiola and new offensive coordinator Mark Whipple on Friday. He plans to arrive to the program on Jan. 8 and aims to fight for a starting spot.

The 6-5, 330-pound Williams started 17 games on the interior of Northern Colorado's O-line even as early as his redshirt freshman and sophomore seasons in 2018-19. Since then, he hasn't been able to play much football.

Northern Colorado's 2020 season was canceled because of COVID and Williams played a couple games at left tackle in 2021 before an off-field matter with UNC played out. A gun owned by him that he said was used for recreational purposes was found unattended in a backpack in his locker. He was initially suspended from campus through the spring of 2022 by the school's dean of students, but Williams appealed the decision as being too harsh. The case found its way to U.S. District Court, where the judge agreed with Williams.

The Colorado report linked cited that "two university employees who reviewed his appeal, called appeal readers, agreed the suspension was too severe. They described Williams as a 'leader on campus, in athletics, and in the UNC community...'" The suspension was lifted. On Dec. 4, Williams decided to transfer.

As Williams quickly received offers from Bowling Green and Western Kentucky, the Huskers didn't hesitate long to show interest too. In-state Husker recruiter Barrett Ruud stopped by to see Williams for an in-home visit on Thursday, as NU looks to push to win more of those prospects from the Omaha area that have eluded the program in recent years.

There is some wide-open competition to be had for the Huskers on the interior of that line, with right guard Matt Sichterman not coming back for a sixth year leaving that starting space open, and the Huskers having struggled at the tackle spots. There's also some wondering still what Cameron Jurgens will decided to do in 2022, which could shuffle the deck further if he were to move on.

Nebraska has had at least one example of recent success with a similar transfer coming in to contribute on the O-line in relatively quick fashion, with Nouredin Nouili arriving to the program from Colorado State in 2020 and busting into the starting lineup at left guard in 2021.
