Garrett Nelson

Nelson isn’t that good, people just like him because he’s local and gung ho about Nebraska. I guess this would be an issue in the sense that we don’t have very many defensive linemen, but hopefully we recruit better players in the future anyway.

Ehh, he’s T7 in the conference in sacks. Probably 3rd team all b10 caliber. He’d be a loss for sure.

With little help from the interior D line, and in a defensive scheme that frequently allows the quick hitter. Late round/UDFA NFL already, could improve that with another year of development.

Too many people going full 🥔 about him just because expectations for him & Mathis were unrealistically high this year.

He is, for sure. But let’s give credit where credit Is due. Guy is a tail pulling legend on the Mexican restaurant circuit. Absolute legend.
Thank you, I chuckled mightily with that comment, and more than once. Classic. You win the Internet today my friend. POTW

Would love to have him back but he's easily replaceable. Someone else will step up to lead.

Some people just seem to want to shit on him because he's not Grant Wistrom or something. He's been a good player for a couple years now.
It's kind of a mix of a bunch of things - once he became an upper classman self-proclaimed "leader" he kinda started acting like he WAS Grant Wistrom, and a lot of his soundbytes and antics came across as 1990s Husker cosplay, and yet on the field we were absolutely awful.

When he walked around wearing shades after the North Dakota game I was like "F this dude he's a clueless phony" but after Frost got fired he seemed to humble himself quite a bit. I definitely hope he comes back, he has turned into a good player.
