All the former athletes and coaches can eat a dick, they don't need the money unless they fucked up their finances while making millions. The jounalists are the ones that it hurts. Their radio shows are practically unlistenable. As much as I made fun of Mike & Mike, they were a hell of a lot better than their current morning show. Golic has to be chuckling about all of this.

They have gotten too political and have turned off major parts of their audience. Outside of live events, there isn’t much demand to watch it anymore with highlights on your phone when you want to see them.

Besides the fact, they are paying hundreds of millions for these sports contracts.

I just watch ESPN for sporting events and will catch the highlight shows during CFB and NFL season. I'm guessing that this viewing style is similar to many. For that reason, ESPN probably sees most of their personnel as replaceable. If there is a game on, I may not like the announcer but I'm still going to watch. I've never watched their daily programming outside of an occasional sportscenter.

If they see them as replaceable they likely took an approach of cutting bigger salaries. That's why someone popular like Kolber gets bounced and Beth "early window bad big ten game matchup" Mowens gets to stick around.

He provided a bunch of other names that most would recognize but not going to list them all. Basically over half the on-air talent will be gone this week. Also, race/sex seems to be have little to no bearing. Plenty of women and POC getting canned. If you were a former player or GM or scout then I would be concerned according to him.

This was definitely needed for a bloating company with “talent” that is being paid well over their market value. Still sad for so many people to lose their jobs. He also said a couple hundred writers will be laid off this week.

McShay is the face of one of their biggest weekends so that’s surprising.

JVG is the best NBA color guy. Don’t know who the second best is. Also not giving it much thought. I suspect he lands at TNT.

Colber as was said is just a stud at everything she does and a staple at the network. Probably the most shocking.

Jalen Rose will land at the Ringer. He’s besties with Simmons.
