Emmett Johnson

He improved from ‘24 to ‘25 on the things I said were keeping him from being considered elite.

I don’t know if it was hard work, physical and mental maturation or both, but he won me over.
Ummm - he actually was named the starter. That was the difference. He was obviously the best back in ‘24 but didn’t get many touches

Yea,...wow...that's up there for a kid his size. He's elite, but he's going to need to find a team who wants to use him like they used Ameer...as a specialist. I'm not sure he survives in the NFL as an every down back. He would have to put on some serious weight for that. He's listed at 183, but I'd be suprised if he were that heavy. I mean J.J. Taylor is the lighest RB in the NFL now and he's 185, and he has elite exceptional speed that Emmitt doesn't have.

I think he finds a roster, but 2nd round? Not seeing that.
Oh completely agree, just saw he was the 61st ranked prospect and thought I’d share

Johnson drastically improved from 24 to 25

He gained weight, he ran with aggression. In 24 his effort was hit or miss imo.
His cutting ability made drastic jumps as did his ability to read the holes opening.

I was a johnson doubter until this year as it seemed to be an effort thing and that rarely works out at the rb position.

He definitely runs bigger than 183. I would have put him at 200-205 based on the eye test. He held up remarkably well this year.

Edit.... he's listed at 5'11 200 lbs on the roster I saw. Rosters usually skew high, but almost 20 lbs is a lot

He was doing that in ‘24. Unfortunately Rhule hired a borderline retard as OC that buried him on the depth chart

Agree on all, especially his read/react ability.

Previously he’d follow the play design, even if that meant running into the back of a lineman. This year, he’s looking for lanes, and his vision isn’t limited to the LOS. He’s cutting, redirecting and looking down field as he’s doing so to see where the next obstacle is.

Ziggy was the last guy we had that made a jump, and half (or more) of his improvement was Tren.

I think EJ was running through contact better in 25 compared to 24. Not having Dowdell could have helped too because I think it allowed EJ to get into a better rhythm over the course of games.

My HS son who is (on the left) was lucky enough to run into him at Chik-fil-a this summer and my son is 6’0 168 in this photo. I’m sure he spit on SOME weight since this was taken but I can’t imagine he’s over 200 pounds in this photo. I still think he’s around 185 tops. 200+ is a real stretch to me (I know muscle adds a lot).

He was an absolute beast for his size all year, not denying that. But there’s a huge difference between being tough in college and being tough in the NFL when grown ass men who are elite are hitting you every play.

It was spotty in 24 imo. I wanted to like him. But he looked thin and effort was hit or miss. Some could be blamed on shit OC. But he hesitated to often to hit a hole.
