Almost beginning to think Deion has this era of college football figured out. Put all your resources in like 10 impact freshman that are able to play from day one and then use the portal for the rest of them. Kids aren’t willing to stay and develop anymore. You can sign a class of 25 and over half will end up transferring in a year or two.

I was honestly having this thought the other day. We all shit on Prime for this approach, but it seems like this is the way everything is going. Are . . . are we the bad guys?

Here’s the issue though: I don’t think we’d be seeing the amount of transfers from NU if the DC and DL coach didn’t leave AND the 105 reduction. Most are happening on the DL which obviously corresponds with Pot Roast leaving.

Deion has one decent year. I wouldn't say he's the blueprint. I'd look more towards teams like Georgia, OSU, Texas, etc. They still bring in strong classes and then fill in the gaps of the processed ones that don't work out through the portal. That seems to be a much more logical and sustainable plan.

Ive been wondering if we would see redshirting die off (unless they refuse to play). Coaches have to hate developing a guy that will contribute for a different team. Its a weird scenario in the current landscape
It's been thrown out there that they will do away with redshirts all together and go to a 5 to play 5 rule. Basically getting away with all the medical redshirts and all that stuff.

This is super dumb of me, but I wonder if they even have thought about how to graduate these guys with degrees they'll be able to use in the world. Like the portal is a very cool way for dudes to maximize their 4 year earning potential, but the majority of them may be doing that at the expense of their 40 year earning potential

At this point, power 5 football teams are basically just a separate entity paying a licensing fee to the university to put their names on their jersey. That being said you can't stop players from freely moving and also claim that you aren't their employer.

Now that the NCAA has let this thing get away from them, it's time to bite the bullet and collectively bargain. The players will be the weakest union ever because their shelf life is only 4-5 years anyways. But they need to do something to lock in kids for at least 2 years unless another school wants to buy out their contract just like the coaches market.

Once that happens, we will see the 40-50ish schools that are willing to pay that price tag ($20 million+). Then we will see all the other schools go back to the old NCAA model where a scholarship is the market for that player's services (FCS, D2 model, NAIA model) NAIA has had the free flow of transfers for as long as I can remember. It's just that nobody cares because we aren't obsessed with those schools.

Can we lock a few threads and start:

1. 2026 HS crootin
2. Other teams portalers
3. Nebraska portalers
4. Chop our weiners off because Dylan could transfer or leave Nebraska sometime in the next 1 to 3 years

Lots of threads running together. No one's fault but it'll make it easier to track.

@HuskerGarrett @Jim14510 @BiffBridges
Yeah I'll go fuck myself. Thanks guys!
