Interesting year.

"The 1918 season was one of severe upheaval not just at Nebraska, but all over the United States, in every way. World War I was reaching full swing, calling away many thousands of men to fight for their country, including of course many college football players. The United States government limited cross country travel during this time, which limited the number of teams that could be met for games, and as a result only six games would be completed this year. Amidst these unsteady times, the 1918 flu pandemic was gripping the world and taking many times more lives than the casualties of the great war in progress in Europe. It was against this backdrop that a new head coach arrived, to try to guide the Cornhuskers through the storm. The role of the Missouri Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Association was rolled back for 1918, and no designated conference games were held, no standings recorded, and no champion crowned. Only three starters from the previous year were back, since many others (including Nebraska's Captain-elect) were training for battle or already overseas at war.[1]"

Nebraska was riding high on one of the most successful periods in program history: Six straight conference titles, a remarkable 153-47-11 overall record, fear and respect from other teams nationwide, and a satisfying 1915 win against Notre Dame. However, Nebraska's head coach of the previous five years, Ewald O. Stiehm, stepped down after winning the most games by percentage for any head coach in the history of the program. With an established program, returning experienced players, and a reputation to uphold, it was time to see what would happen to the Cornhuskers under new leadership.[2]

You’ve done amazing work ITT, @Faux Sean Callahan. I wondered how long you’d be able to keep this going as the game drew nearer and the teams got older, but …

The 1915 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team represented the University of Nebraska in the 1915 college football season. The team was coached by fifth-year head coach Ewald O. Stiehm and played its home games at Nebraska Field in Lincoln, Nebraska.[1] The team played its home games at Nebraska Field in Lincoln, Nebraska. The 1915 season was part of Nebraska's 34-game unbeaten streak that ran from 1912 to 1916.

Following the season, Guy Chamberlin was named the first All-American in Nebraska history. Stiehm, who had won the MVC in all five of his seasons at Nebraska and also coached the school's basketball team,[2] was offered $4,500 annually to take over Indiana's athletic department. Despite suggesting he'd remain at Nebraska for less money, the school refused to offer him a raise and Stiehm exited with the highest winning percentage of any coach in school history

Fuck Cockeyes

I was in HuHot in Souix City with some buddies when De’Mornay housed that punt. I remember some Cockeye fist slamming his table while we were going nuts. Oh how I long to enjoy football again.

19/20 I'm either in my basement or my in laws basement watching the games, but the NW game where it was fat boy to porn stash hail Mary I was at a bww in Cockeye.

Probably 75% of the place was actively cheering for NW. Of course our prayers were answered and my drunk ass did a lap around the bar tables

I’ll forever hate myself because I actually walked out of the room in disgust right before that play and then I hear my mom and sister screaming like maniacs.
