Colorado was 5/7 on 3rd & 10+

CU was 8/16 overall on 3rd down overall, so that means they were 3/9 on 3rd and less than 10

I'm absolutely never going to watch that again to verify, but it seemed like most of the issue on 3rd and long was rushing 3 and Sanders being able to buy way too much time
One we brought the house and corner got beat on a go route.

He seemed to have/make a lot of time on those 3rd and longs, but a couple were just great throws across the field. The kid had plenty of chances to make shitty throws and he never did.

Either way, the one knock on the defense thus far is 3rd down. We’re allowing 51.5% conversion rate. That’s abysmal.

Rhule continually emphasizing the importance of 3rd down clearly means he and Tony White have a philosophy for how they want play different situations. They believe there are ways to play 3rd and short/medium/long that yield the long term results they’re after.

So what we don’t know is if this 51.5% and 5/7 on 3rd and 10+ is an anomaly or an indication of a flawed philosophy. Will the law of averages balance out once we get a larger sample size OR do they not have the players to execute their philosophy/is their philosophy is flawed?

I’m willing to give the defense the benefit of the doubt and not do too much nitpicking at the moment. The offense not keeping our defense off the field and the altitude making its mark on the game in the second half and I think this is one area where it really started to hurt us down the stretch.
