Butler

In the NFL they prize shutting down the passing game first, in college football you have to stop the run first. Our DL is small. Usually we're slow but this year we're small and weak v the run.

IMO protection issues seemed to be the biggest culprit.

Either way, I’m not going to get too worked up yet and get a 4 game sample size. 105 yards passing and 4/12 on 3rd down. At end of day, game came down to field goal luck.
Honestly the game came down to the line of scrimmage more than anything. Biff's Butthole Surfers won by a fg but the game was wrapped up when they were up by 10.

Do not think we have the personnel on the DL for a 3-3. Butler held them to 4-12 on 3rd down, and it wasn't his game planning that hurt us on the long TD's. Shit, if anything the edge didn't crash on the hole when he took off. Also, underwood went for 12/22 for 105. Forced them to punt 4 times and held them to FG's 3 times, 2 in the redzone.

Justice Haynes is a monster and is probably the piece Alabama is missing this year.
Offense lost the game for us

This team is leaps butter than anything we've seen in 8 years and probably would've folded after 10-0 in the past. I think this team is still a minimum 8 team win.

If there are personnel questions they need to be directed to Matthew Rhule.

I thought the Butler hire was risky. Never been a DC and really an unknown what he would do/bring to the table. It is also early to be at the fire him stage. I have never liked the 3-4 and we are very weak/small at interior DL, so IMO that makes things worse. He likely wasn't going to be a "great" hire, but you never know.

If we want to be a big boy program, gotta go all in. On coaches and roster. That is how it works in college football now.

I know we love to listen @slattimer and his small town assistant high school coaching greatness.

But Nebraska lost that game today because Rhule has stupid standards that hamstrung the offensive line.

Teddy P shouldn't be starting at RT. Pritchett should be there. Or Pritchett should be at LT and Gottula should've been taking RT reps for the last month.

Our OT play killed us. Interior O line play is good enough most of the time IMO. Those OT's though - woof.

I agree about Pritchett. Start him and play him. We don't have the luxury of dicking around with not doing so. Unless his antics have truly been POS worthy, he is obviously our most talented OT.
