I'd say the majority of the league is spread based. Very few operate almost exclusively under center as Cockeye and Wisconsin do.Meh idk about “power based” majority.
I’d say B1G is pretty split. Those more knowledgeable will know the difference as I think NW, Michigan and MSU also run spread as well 50/50 depending on personal. Even Cockeyes sometimes tries.
I’m terrible at diagnosing this though so @slattimer can break it down much better.
Power Based:
Cockeyes -
Wisconsin -
Minnesota -
Illinois -
Split:
Northwestern
Rutgers
Michigan
Michigan State
Spread:
Nebraska
Purdue
Indiana
Maryland
Penn State
Ohio State
Power Based:
Cockeyes - 21/22 Personnel OZ
Wisconsin - 21/22 Personnel Gap Scheme
Minnesota - One back TZ/OZ w/ tons of RPOs
Illinois - No idea, didn't pay much attention to their shit bag offense
Split:
Northwestern - Has been mostly spread over the years, dependent on the QB how much spread run game they've had.
Rutgers - Haven't paid much attention to what they run
Michigan - Harbaugh has been more pro style over his career, but is adaptive and utilizing more spread concepts
Michigan State - I thought from our game they were more 1 back based
Spread:
Nebraska - Has been a mismash of shit for years, started spread and transitioned to more 11/12 personnel "power spread"
Purdue - Spread
Indiana - Spread
Maryland - Spread
Penn State - Spread - under Moorhead they were tits and were mostly TZ, P&P, and Gap scheme
Ohio State - Spread Tight Zone/Gap Scheme. I've probably studied their offense the most, mainly because they have playbooks floating around out there that are fun to dissect.
