Welcome to The Platinum Board. We are a Nebraska Husker news source and fan community.
Sign Up Now!I think he is a 4 for 3 year type of guy. Fits the mold that HCMR is looking for.17 carries, 80 yards and a tuddy at Oregon.
Bulk of stats came op up duty vs Portland state
Haven’t heard anything solid but he has been recruiting a lot and I saw they thought they had a better chance landing a few guys with him on staff. Maybe staying now?@HuskerGarrett
Have you heard anything recently on Barthel? Signs point to him staying..
Recruiting - Dowdell family gives latest on recruitment, Nebraska interest
Here's the latest on Dante Dowdell and Nebraska. Inside Nebraska caught up with his father, Lawrence Hopkins: https://nebraska.rivals.com/news/dowdell-family-gives-latest-on-recruitment-nebraska-interestnebraska.forums.rivals.com
Ranked a 4* 93 on 247.
Couple bits from his dad per Callahan.
“This is an official visit, and we have no other visits set up at this time,” Hopkins told HuskerOnline on Thursday. “We are going to see how things are and then just go from there.”
“Nebraska would probably be his top choice right now, given the opportunity and the style of the offense,” Hopkins said on Sunday. “They run a pro-style offense that is straight downhill with big back-type stuff. That’s him all day long. Plus, Coach (E.J.) Barthel is a great coach. Everybody that knows him has nothing but great things to say about him.”

If he can land this guy then I think he deserves another year on that basis alone.Sounds like Barthel isn't going anywhere based on this.
We would neither be the first nor the last team to sign a guy and then let his position coach go. I've never really bought into the Barthel stuff for whatever that's worthSounds like Barthel isn't going anywhere based on this.
Seems kinda silly to base it off a transfer who’s done nothing at Oregon other than run well vs Portland state in mop up dutyIf he can land this guy then I think he deserves another year on that basis alone.
If he signed him last year would you have been excited? Not being able to crack the rotation as a true freshman on a CFP contender isn’t a huge knock on him IMOSeems kinda silly to base it off a transfer who’s done nothing at Oregon other than run well vs Portland state in mop up duty
Would be like getting a Freshman transfer from OSU. Oregon’s RB room was pretty loaded last year.Seems kinda silly to base it off a transfer who’s done nothing at Oregon other than run well vs Portland state in mop up duty
I'd rather not spin the wheel a 6th time in hoping Rahmir Johnson turns into an average backWould be like getting a Freshman transfer from OSU. Oregon’s RB room was pretty loaded last year.
But playing him in 6 games of garbage time also allegedly didn't sit well with him

It seems like the hot and heavy mutual interest is indicative that they view him as a top 2 backYeah. His dad also said in that article had he redshirted last year he probably would not be leaving Oregon at this point. But now that he's looking at spending two years of eligibility without a chance to be a starter (or even second back in), they are looking for a better situation. He was told his role at Orgeon this coming season was going to be pretty much the same as it was last year.
By "they" you mean the Huskers, right? I agree. I think he's top two by default. You can't count on Irvin or RJohnson until they prove they can bounce back from their injuries. It seems like the hot and heavy mutual interest is indicative that they view him as a top 2 back

I’ve heard he’s staying. Was looking to go out east but changed his mind, for whatever reason.Sounds like Barthel isn't going anywhere based on this.
Couldn’t get a job anywhere else, likely. Thus far, he’s run off Ajay Allen, cried at a press conference, screwed the RB rotation up so bad at Minn that it cost us the game, and has signed all of 1 player in the last two recruiting cycles - super glad this dynamo is on our staffI’ve heard he’s staying. Almost forgot he also needlessly kept Gabe Ervin in late in the 4th up multiple scores against Northern Illinois and he dislocated his hip.Couldn’t get a job anywhere else, likely.
