Ann Arbor, Mich. - Behind seven bonus-point victories, including three tech. falls and two pins, the #7 Nebraska wrestling team topped #18 Michigan 38-6 on Friday night.
With the victory, Nebraska improved to 7-2 (2-1 Big Ten), while Michigan fell to 4-3 (1-3 Big Ten) on the year. The Huskers tallied their first conference road win of the season, and handed the Wolverines their worst loss in 15 years.

Jacob Van Dee met Michigan’s Nolan Wertanen. Coming off last weekend’s upset victory, Van Dee came out firing with four takedowns and four near fall points in route to the 18-2 tech. fall, his second of the season.
With the 5-0 overall lead, #6
Brock Hardy (141) faced #11 Sergio Lemley in a rematch after the duo wrestled three times last season with Hardy leading the head-to-head 2-1. Hardy used four takedowns to secure his fourth major victory of the year and 74th career win.
At 149, #3
Ridge Lovett and #22 Dylan Gilcher wrestled as Lovett looked to improve his all-time record against the Wolverine to 2-0. Lovett scored a takedown and four near fall points in period one to come out to the early 7-0 lead before tallying three more takedowns for the 17-2 tech. fall. Lovett improved to 88-20 in his Husker career and increased his bonus-point victory total on the year to seven.
After three-straight bonus-point victories and with the 14-0 lead, #5
Antrell Taylor faced Michigan’s #15 Chase Saldate at 157 for the third-career time. Both wrestlers scored points in the opening two periods before Taylor came out on top and secured his fourth pin of the season.
Christopher Minto got the call at 165 against Michigan’s #10 Beau Mantanona. The wrestlers were tied after two periods before Minto used a reversal, takedown and the riding time point to earn his second-straight top-10 victory, 7-2.
With the 23-0 team lead, #15
Lenny Pinto wrestled #29 Joseph Walker at 174. Walker scored the first takedown, but Pinto tallied six takedowns of his own to earn his 14th-career major decision, 23-11.
Nebraska then continued the shutout, as #8
Silas Allred met #20 Jaden Bullock at 184. Allred scored a takedown in each of the opening two periods and added three more in the final period, securing his sixth tech. fall of the year, 21-6.
At 197, #22
Camden McDanel wrestled Michigan’s #2 Jacob Cardenas with the 32-3 team lead. McDanel earned escapes in the first and third period, but Cardenas persevered and topped McDanel 5-2 for Nebraska’s first loss of the dual.
After facing the top two heavyweights in the country, #21
Harley Andrews met his third-straight top 10 opponent, wrestling #9 Josh Heindselman of Michigan. Andrews scored one takedown and three escapes, but it wasn’t enough as Heindselman tallied two takedowns on his way to the 9-6 victory.
In the last match of the night, #7
Caleb Smith earned three takedowns and a reversal over Michigan’s Wilfried Tanefeu in the first two periods combined. Smith then secured the second-period pin for his 97th career victory and second pin of the season, pushing the Huskers past Michigan, 38-6.
Up next. Nebraska stays on the road to face Michigan State on Sunday, Jan. 26. Action is set for 12 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
