The No. 19 Nebraska softball team brought the score within one in the sixth inning, but took a 4-2 loss to the No. 9 UCLA Bruins in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals on Friday evening in West Lafayette, Ind.

NU moved to 39-13 on the season, while UCLA improved to 49-9.

Hannah Camenzind was 2-for-3 on the night with two RBIs and a triple. Ava Bredwell, Ava Kuszak and Samantha Bland added a hit apiece.

Jordyn Bahl (23-6) took the loss in the circle. She pitched 6.0 innings and allowed four runs and nine hits while striking out 11 batters. Kaitlyn Terry (17-4) claimed the win for the Bruins.

UCLA used an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

The Bruins extended the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run home run.

In the top of the sixth, Bland and Kuszak hit back-to-back singles and both scored on an H. Camenzind triple to cut UCLA’s advantage to 3-2.

The Bruins hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 4-2 and account for the final score.

NU will await its fate for the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Softball Selection Show will air on Sunday, May 11 at 6 p.m. (CT) on ESPN2.

Postgame Notes

  • Nebraska is now 10-10 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament.

  • Jordyn Bahl notched 11 strikeouts for her ninth double-digit strikeout game this year.

  • Bahl’s 11 strikeouts brought her season total to 254, which puts her at 9th in school history.
