Huskers.com

Jordyn Bahl hit two home runs at the plate and tossed a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts in the circle as the No. 18 Nebraska softball team downed the Washington Huskies by a score of 6-0 on Sunday in Seattle, Wash.

The win clinched a 2-1 series victory for the Huskers. The Big Red claimed its fifth conference series of the season, as the Huskers have not lost a conference series this spring.

NU improved to 35-12 (14-5 Big Ten) with the win, while Washington fell to 32-15 (10-8 Big Ten).

The Huskers outhit UW 11-to-1. Bahl was 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs, while Ava Kuszak added two hits. Abbie Squier logged a double and Lauren Camenzind added an RBI.

Bahl (20-5) also grabbed the win in the circle, as she tossed her league-leading sixth shutout with only one hit allowed and 11 strikeouts to post her eighth game of the year with double-digit strikeouts. Morgan Reimer (10-7) took the loss for the Huskies.

Olivia DiNardo kicked off the top of the fourth inning with a single and Kennadi Williams, who pinch ran for DiNardo, stole second. Squier walked and Bella Bacon logged a single to load the bases. L. Camenzind reached on an error and Williams crossed the plate, before a Bahl three-run homer sent herself, Bacon and L. Camenzind home. The Big Red led 5-0 going into the sixth.

Bahl knocked her second home run of the day to extend the lead to 6-0 in the top of the sixth. Neither team scored in the seventh and the Big Red grabbed the game and series victories.

The Huskers will return to Bowlin Stadium for their final regular-season series against the Maryland Terrapins from May 2-4. Friday’s game is set for 5 p.m. It will be streamed on B1G+ and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.
