The No. 18 Nebraska softball team dropped a matchup with the Indiana Hoosiers by a score of 6-2 on Friday evening at Bowlin Stadium.

NU fell to 32-11 (11-4 Big Ten) on the season, while Indiana improved to 29-12 (8-7 Big Ten).

The Hoosiers notched a four-run sixth inning to take the lead and never looked back. IU had nine hits to the Huskers’ four and were 6-for-14 with runners in scoring position. Nebraska was just 1-for-14 with runners on base in the game.

Jordyn Bahl, Samantha Bland, Hannah Camenzind and Emmerson Cope each notched a hit. Cope’s was a two-run homer to give Nebraska a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

Bahl (18-5) took the loss in the circle for the Huskers. She threw 6.0 innings and allowed five runs. H. Camenzind tossed the final inning for NU and allowed one run. Brianna Copeland (13-5) grabbed the win for the Hoosiers.

Indiana struck first in the top of the third with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the fourth, Kuszak walked and Cope knocked a two-run homer to grab a 2-1 lead for the Big Red.

IU took advantage of two perfectly placed infield singles to score four runs in the top of the sixth to take back a 5-2 lead. A sacrifice fly plated another Hoosier in the top of the seventh, and Indiana grabbed the 6-2 win.

The Huskers will take on the Hoosiers again tomorrow, April 19 at 1 p.m. (CT). The game will be televised on Nebraska Public Media and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.
