Warren just did what most of the BIG Presidents wanted during Covid. It’s similar to people hating Goodell. He just does what the owners want.

Warren just did what most of the BIG Presidents wanted during Covid. It’s similar to people hating Goodell. He just does what the owners want.

Yes, but the owners don't negotiate the CBA or the TV deals. They pay Goodell to do that and he's done well and gets paid handsomely.
It's the same with Warren, he negotiates the TV deal and in this case, it was the best one to date so I grade Warren pretty favorably.

I think the ACC TV deal was in place for years before he got there. My only real memory is that he was the odds on favorite to be the next Big Ten commissioner before Warren appeared out of no where

As far as the financial bottom line goes, Warren has been a very solid commissioner, imo, but he is definitely no where close to the visionary that Delaney was

Yes, he retired. His work in this was as the puppet master, you won't read about it in the papers. B1G has already paid big money for crisis PR to cover Warren's butt.

the ACC has strong grant of rights contracts that makes it really hard for schools to leave, but the money is pretty shitty. they also signed a long-term deal that has them locked in at the lower rates for a long time

Delaney was right to get the Big 10 signed on for shorter term deals that allow the conference to renegotiate the contracts more frequently
