SEC has a rule that spring transfers can’t transfer to a sec school and be immediately eligible. So a non sec team must have told him they will drop cash on him after watching their QBs this spring

Dveyoun Bonwell-Witte committed to Nebraska last October. He committed to a position coach who is no longer in Lincoln. The future Husker from Sioux Falls (S.D.) Washington returned to Lincoln today to watch practice, meet his new position coach, and further develop his relationship with everyone involved with the Nebraska staff.
“I just wanted to get to know everybody a little better and get back there,” Bonwell-Witte said. “I missed that environment. It was good to see the new faces. Coach McGuire played a big part in my recruiting, and it didn’t feel any different.
“That’s what stuck out to me. It didn’t feel different at all, and it just felt the same. I just wanted to get back to campus and see everyone again.”
Bonwell-Witte’s new position coach, Daikiel Shorts, planned to meet with him during his visit but became occupied in meetings today due to practice. A brief discussion reinforced how much the Huskers appreciate him.
“Well, sadly, I didn’t really get to have a real conversation with him,” Bonwell-Witte said. “We talked for two minutes. He let me know he was happy to have me, and you know it sucks that he hasn’t been able to contact me as much with spring practices and everything.
“We didn’t get to have a solid conversation like we were supposed to earlier in the day, but the coaches had meetings. Our conversation wasn’t as deep as it could’ve been. They’re still interested in me, and you could tell how he talked to me.”
Dveyoun Bonwell-Witte was not the only 2026 commitment on campus
One way Bonwell-Witte got to know more about his new position coach was through the offensive coordinator. Dana Holgerson coached alongside Shorts before the two ended up in Lincoln.
“I didn’t have much connection with him, but I did talk to him today during practice, and he walked me through how he knows Coach Shorts,” Bonwell-Witte said. “He helped me understand him and where they are coming from.”
Bonwell-Witte wasn’t the only 2026 commitment on campus today. He said he spent a lot of time talking to Dayton Raiola was was also in Lincoln today.
“We talked about how great Nebraska is, and I have some questions about Dylan,” Bonwell-Witte said. “We didn’t talk much about recruiting and contacting people. I know some recruits who have Nebraska offers, and I am in touch with them to try to get them to commit.”
Bonwell-Witte is returning to 100% after fracturing his patella this fall. He competed in his first track meet this past week but mentions that he is still regaining confidence and working to regain full strength.
