Shit took me out last Monday and ended up in ER with a 4 day hospital stay with idiopathic pancreatitis (meaning cause unknown). Worst pain I've ever been in until the fentanyl and oxy kicked in. I think I ended up with 24 bags of IV during that hospital stay. Since being released I've had up and down with stomach pains and bloat feeling, yet it's empty. Usually about an hour after I ended I crash hard with fatigue. Weight is all over the place. Went 204 Monday, 189 Tuesday morning, 208 Thursday when released, now back to 198. I typically am in the 203-205 range after a morning deuce. Since last Sunday I've only had one solid deuce and it was induced by milk of magnesia.

If you've had it, what was recovery like after being released from hospital?

Dude...yikes, hope you get better soon.

Haven't had the fortune of having it...hopefully when it's done you get lot's of the sex.

Never had it but I do know to stay away from the booze if you have it. That usually makes the pain worse. Hope you get better

Get well, OP! I know a few people that have had it, but they were not really living well, and didn’t change their lifestyle after until they were hospitalized multiple times.

Sounds like a piece of fuck man. My pancreas hasn't been functional since I was 7 but I think I'd take my situation over yours.

Get well soon

I’ve know a couple people that had it and it’s a good thing you caught it early. It can lead to kidney failure real fast.

Wife's cousin (20's) and employees husband (60's) died from it in the past couple years. Good to see you caught it quick and got it under control. Shit is nothing to mess around with.

No but my dog did. He lost 40# and finally I'm like, I'm 90% sure he has EPI and he did. Had to feed him pig pancreas enzymes with each meal until he sadly passed. He gained his weight back, mostly. Died way too young

GSD

Hey monster, where did you get the pig pancreas enzymes, and how did you dose it or monitor glucose levels?

My 14 year old dog was diagnosed with diabetes about six weeks ago. Pig insulin is $60 every 20 days. The vet recommended changing to prescription diet that's also 50% more per bag than the science diet that he's been eating.

I'd love to keep the old boy alive as long as possible, but I'm not made of money and, evidently, it doesn't grow on trees.

So, with EPI it's strictly giving him the enzymes that allow his body to breakdown his food into nutrients instead of come out looking like soft served chocolate

You can buy the enzymes on Chewy or others like it. I had to get him a prescription dose to start which was $300/3-4wks 🙃

For OTC checkout Bio Case Plus.

Every time I visit this thread and see this line, I start chuckling. It started as a smirk, grew into a chortle and now I'm somewhere between chuckling and belly laughing. Well played, Thom.

You, me, and my doc and nurse all got a laugh about a scorpion bite.

The doc asked if I had a scorpion bite. No shit, high on oxy, I thought he meant like a skin condition and I answered, "not that I know, is that like a stork bite on a baby?"

Nope, it was in reference to the actual insect.
