Nebraska’s visit list this weekend includes no official visitors, but there’s still plenty of interesting names to look for in Lincoln for the Northwestern contest.
Here’s a quick run through of some of the bigger names expected on Saturday as the Huskers are looking to have more than 50 recruits on campus:
2022 commits
Chase Androff — Nebraska tight end commit from Minnesota will be taking in his first game. Androff visited the Huskers in June, committed days after his official and now will be back in Lincoln for the first time.
Ernest Hausmann — The commitment from Columbus, who is known as Big Ern by those on the message boards and likely soon by everyone else, has been a fixture at these home games. Hausmann said he’s enjoyed meeting future teammates and talking with those about Nebraska football. He’ll have a big weekend of peer recruiting with a number of 2023 players in town, should he choose to accept the mission
2022 unofficial visitors
Vince Genatone — The North Platte athlete has enjoyed a good season for his team so far and he came out for Nebraska’s first home game this year when the Huskers took on Fordham over Labor Day weekend. He’s still working toward landing that Nebraska offer.
Alejandro Colbert — Texas defensive back also in town looking for an offer. Colbert has been hearing from
Travis Fisher and Nebraska is likely hoping to get a good look at his size in person before potentially moving forward with the defender.
2023 commits
Gunnar Gottula — The big offensive lineman from Lincoln Southeast has been consistent in his presence at Nebraska functions as well. He attended both the Fordham and Buffalo games.
2023 offered targets
Tausili Akana — This four-star linebacker is the brother of Keonilei Akana, a Nebraska volleyball player. Akana is one of the top players in the country for the 2023 cycle. This will be his second time at Nebraska.
David Borchers — This three-star defender from Cockeye is someone the Huskers have been after for a little, joining Cockeye State as an early offer.
Andrew Depaepe —A four-star, Depaepe already holds 12 offers from around the country, including several other Big Ten schools. This looks like he’ll be one of the top players in the state during the cycle.
Watts McBride — This safety from the eastern part of Cockeye won the attention of
Erik Chinander with a good performance at Friday Night Lights. He’s back for his first game now having also visited for a practice at the end of July.
Maverick Noonan — A legacy, Noonan is a player Nebraska wants to lock up and be part of the future. A defensive end or outside linebacker, Noonan has quickly become a force in Class A, disrupting offenses and throwing quarterbacks and running backs around.
Teitum Tuioti — Son of Nebraska’s defensive line coach, Tuioti showed good strength on bull rushes last week against Lincoln East. He’s got several west coast offers, but has been a fixture at Nebraska games and feels like a potential commit already.
Other 2023 notables
Malachi Coleman — This Lincoln East junior had a big game against rival Lincoln Southeast and he holds an offer to Northern Cockeye at this time. Nebraska has maintained good contact with the athlete and he could end up as a receiver or a linebacker at the next level.
Victor Isele — The pass rusher that excelled at Friday Night Lights is back again to check out Nebraska. The Grand Island Northwest junior has had a good season and seems to be another 2023 name to consider as Huskers wait on more film.
Charles Jagusah — A big defensive lineman to know for next cycle, Jagusah weighs in at 308 pounds, but looks almost skinny at his 6-foot-6 frame. He holds nine offers at this time.
Cannon Leonard — Nebraska is one of the schools keeping tabs on as Leonard stands 6-foot-9, 265 pounds. He doesn’t have an offer at this time.
Justin Taylor — This Illinois athlete doesn’t hold any offers at this time, but does appear to be on the radar of a number of programs that are interested in his two-way ability.
Zak Yamauchi — This Bishop Gorman offensive lineman holds a UNLV offer at this time. Yamauchi projects as an interior lineman.
Offered 2024 targets
Mario Buford — The brother of current cornerback
Marques Buford, Mario is one of the top players in his class and slated to be a defensive back as well. He holds 5 offers at this time including Oregon.
Dylan Raiola — The son of former Nebraska lineman
Dominic Raiola is back after tearing up Friday Night Lights. The quarterback is already a top 100 player for the 2024 class.
Other 2024 notables
William Depaepe — Younger brother to Andrew, William is an outside linebacker and also a potential baseball prospect.
Carter Nelson — An early 2024 name to know in-state out of Ainsworth, Nelson was at the Buffalo game and was a Class C high jump champion as a freshman last year. Big frame and could be a tight end further down the line.
