I was way more of a Age of empires fan than the others.

Only thing I wish AOE2 had that Starcraft had was when you converted an enemy villager they would have retained their civilization’s unique units. Like happened in Starcraft when a probe got converted.

ex: Playing as Britons and convert an enemy Celtic villager = that villager can build a Castle but that castle can make Woad Raiders.

Mercenaries were very common and popular across the world during those eras, so it would not have even been crazy for them to put that in a game, wish they would have. My favorite civilization the Teutons lacked a good fast unit, would have been great to be able to get some while keeping the benefits of the Teutons. (Farming and defenses)
