I posted a completely serious question over on TalkNDawgs about whether they think Nebraska would be in the playoffs this year. This guys answer got me jacked off 🔥🔥🔥

Last season Nebraska ranked #24 in the 247Sports Team Talent Composite, so they definitely underachieved by posting a dismal 4-8 record. Moreover, the Cornhuskers have posted losing records in seven of the last eight years since firing HC Bo Pelini on 30 November 2014.

As for this season, HC Matt Rhule (hired on 26 November 2022) was able to assemble a recruiting class (i.e., recruits + inbound transfers) that ranks #31 in the country.

Looking at the Cornhuskers' 2023 schedule, the good news is they have a talent advantage over every team they'll play except for Michigan. Fortunately for Nebraska, they will host that game in Lincoln. If the Cornhuskers play up to their potential and earn an 11-1 regular season record then upset either Michigan/Ohio State/Penn State in the Big Ten Championship Game, then I could see them in the playoffs.
Fwiw, in Fiscal Year 2022 Nebraska Football generated $95,852,148 in revenue (ranked #11 in FBS), but only spent about a third (i.e., $32,957,500 or ranked #31 in FBS) of that on the program. IMO, AD Turd Alberts should reinvest a greater percentage of that into the football program so as to help Rhule (as an aside, nobody wins cheap - see AD Damon Evans & AD Greg McGarity vs. HC Mark Richt from 2001-'15; no IPF (despite the UGA Athletic Association (UGAAA) promising one in a letter to donors in 1999) plus the Dawgs avg. $2M below the SEC median in expenses, even though UGAAA were named "national financial champs" [revenue minus expenses] for many years during his tenure in Athens, GA).

Btw, a little over a decade ago I was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, NE for 28 months. I can attest that the winters there are brutal (and I've lived in Canada, Maine, Michigan, Ohio, and Washington). Despite the winters and dismals seasons of late, I have to say that Cornhuskers fans are a loyal bunch (e.g., my next door neighbors in another state put out their Nebraska flags on game days and leave them up win or lose; the Cornhuskers have packed Memorial Stadium for the past 60 years).

Same. Definitely nowhere near as whack as Alabama, Florida or Tennessee fans.
I am interested in how the Nebraska trip to TN will go (if it happens). The last time I saw Tennessee play in Athens, it was awful. I had drinks thrown at me just walking down the sidewalk etc.

Thrown at you by Vol fans in Athens? That’s ballsy.
