Why would Turd pursue the BIG commissioner job and Chairman of the CFP if he was content here and "nowhere he would rather be?" Those positions were open before Carter left for OSU. My guess is TA&M isn't going to be his last stop either. He seems like a guy who's always chasing the squirrel and pursuing "what's next" is more important than what gets accomplished along the way.

What was interesting was the Ohio State President before Carter left due to misaligned priorities and differences with the board of trustees. So at least it’s not just us.
Most university admins tenures are short either because they're all compulsive ladder climbers or because the kumbaya honeymoon period is over. Way easier to pack your shit and take a raise at the next place

I am now very concerned with where Nebraska's standing will be in 2027-2029, which will be the three most important years in the athletic department's history as it relates to membership in the future world order of college athletics. People smarter than me have mentioned that a split could happen sooner but based on the structure of TV contracts event horizon will probably exist in that timeframe.

If the leadership is more interested in small time thinking, evident by Carter and Turd going places where that doesn't appear to be the case, we're far more likely to be competing with K State, Cockeye State, and Kansas than we are Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio State. I was really confident that we had forward thinkers heading us into that storm, now I don't know.

You should be able to springboard from the Nebraska AD job into a role beyond some other school's AD. If you can't and those are your goals, you look elsewhere.

Not trying to chicken little more than I should, but Nebraska exists in the fringes of inclusion and this shit needs to get figured out fast.

Sorry, was just in an argument over twitter on someone contending the A&M AD job is not better than the Nebraska job.
Well I'm sure in a state of 2 million people you have at least a few delusional eggs. A survey found that 10% of people believe the earth is flat, I don't think the world needs a spherical truth pill though, well at least about the shape of the earth

Nebraska fans always solve the university problem from a conference perspective. Regardless of success or failure Nebraska is a ratings draw and gets you far more for you buck than most other Big Ten schools. That's not say that Nebraska should be happy going along to get along and we don't need forward thinking leadership, it's just that to this observer the Power 2 is clearly cemented and any school that wants to increase their piece of the pie now lacks a credible threat to leave

Lol good point. Even though I think this is a promotion, in the sense of title it's a lateral move. A&M may give him more power to get the jobs he's been interviewing for such as CFP committee member and other things.

Thanks for the reply.

I think we’re all kidding ourselves if we think the political jockeying of power and money is going to change. It never will. I assumed that because of his time at UNO Turd innately understood the landscape and would be someone who would and could thrive in that arena. He often preached about tackling difficult challenges and we have to “be comfortable being uncomfortable” so I think that is the most disappointing part of this. To me it feels like he is running away from problems that are the same problems facing the UNL AD the last 25 years. Power and money.
That’s how I feel. If his goal is to be a conference commissioner as some say, this doesn’t speak well of dealing with difficult situations. Running away from it doesn’t win you respect.

The surveys where they ask people which animals they could take in a fight is my favorite barometer for delusion

14% of men think they could beat up a Silverback Gorilla

If we are going to keep confining our searches to whoever has the strongest Nebraska ties, no one has been around the program more or been more dedicated to Husker athletics the last 2 decades than Li'l Red.

See how the BoR likes negotiating with that unflappable mother fucker.
