Sign Up Now!The same can be said for most of the coaches on the list. It's clearly a list of "bad hires in retrospect"Scott Frost is a bad coach but how was it a bad hire? What option did we have?
Not really, Mike Riley is an example of where we clearly had other choices. The same can be said for most of the coaches on the list. It's clearly a list of "bad hires in retrospect"
What I meant was, most of the coaches on this list were considered good hires at the time. Frost is high on the list for the same reason Briles and Petrino are high on the list. They weren't WTF hires early on, they just delivered WTF results. Not really, Mike Riley is an example of where we clearly had other choices.
Thing I don't like about Briles being #1 is he won. Yeah maybe his players had a bit of extra curricular fun that he allegedly covered up but they won dammit! What I meant was, most of the coaches on this list were considered good hires at the time. If this were a list about who was a WTF hire on the day they were hired, people like Mike Riley and Herm Edwards would be a lot higher than people like Frost and RichRod.
He's a better coach than Frost and Riley but still belongs on that list. He gets a break for the 2004 transitional year but his 4th year was Frost-level bad. His overall results were worse than that of his predecessor so he should be recognized for that.I don't think Callahan should be on the list
Not only that, the success has brought Baylor out from the horrible pit they were in. They built a new stadium while Briles was there, and have been successful with coaches ever since. No one calls it a bad job anymore.Thing I don't like about Briles being #1 is he won. Yeah maybe his players had a bit of extra curricular fun that he allegedly covered up but they won dammit!

Maybe not as high as they have him, but definitely top 50.
I wish Callahan would have kept Bo or hired a legit defensive coordinator. In his 4th year (which got him fired) he had the same record that Frost had in his best year (which did not get Frost fired), against a really hard schedule, with a top 5 recruiting class, a year after playing for the Big 12 title (which Frost obviously never approached).
Callahan was never Frost level bad.
Callahan with Bo would have been interesting.I wish Callahan would have kept Bo or hired a legit defensive coordinator.
I bet those two could have got us a Big 12 title.Callahan with Bo would have been interesting.
