Breaking 6 Baseball players enter the portal potty today 5/25/22

Of all those, Palmer is the only one that really bums me and thats mostly just off the value he has as a baserunner with his speed. I have no idea of he was ever gonna bring any value at the plate or in the field.

Not really losing anything here.

Quinn Mason - Junior. 8 appearances over 3 years. 7.2 IP, 4.70 ERA, 7 BB, 8 K
Tyler Palmer - RS Freshman. Started 1 game. 3 AB .000/.250/.000 (not good)
Jack Steil - Sophomore. Started 40 games over 2 years. 132 AB .189/.283/.333 (not good)
Leighton Banjoff - Junior. Started 65 games over 3 years. 228 AB .259/.422/.368 (not good at all)
Ethan Bradford - Junior. 9 appearances over 3 years. 11.2 IP, 3.86 ERA, 12 BB, 10 K
Braxton Bragg - Junior. 31 appearances over 3 years. 53 IP, 5.60 ERA, 17 BB, 59 K
Tyler Martin - Senior
Kyler Randazzo - signed to play in 2021. Never played.
Leighton Banjoff has got to be one of the worst names on the planet.

Said it before the season. If anyone expected us to be any better than .500 this year you were fooling yourself. We lost a TON of experienced arm talent and some key players.

This year was rebuilding and getting the young arms built up. We’ve got some great talent and some excellent talent coming in that will contribute.

Big pickup for us today with the big bat from SCC. Kid led the nation in hitting and has some serious pop to go with it.

This next year we should see us moving back up the ladder.

Hope it turns around. TBH, I didn't expect us to be very good this year so I wasn't too let down.

Or it’s a move to avoid another year like this one. Too lazy to look but how many of these guys were actually recruited by bolt?

Tricky question and I'll do my best. Some of the guys were recruited & signed by Erstad (Feekin, Gomes, Chick, Perry, Schanaman) before Erstad resigned. Those 5 played for Nebraska on Erstad's last team. Others were recruited by Erstad but reviewed then signed by Bolt (Banjoff, Bragg, Mason, Bradford, Palmer, Steil). Keep in mind, a lot of those guys signed in November 2019 which is 4 months after Bolt got the job. Heck, the class Banjoff was in is a complete wash, not a single guy remains a Husker.

Everitt, Frank, Bunz, Anderson, Matthews, Anglim, Olson, Sartori, Cervantes, Wimmers, are all Bolt recruits. As was Povich, Hroch & Wynne. Anglim was committed to Wichita State while Erstad was the coach, he was 1 of the first couple commits to Bolt. All current freshmen are Bolt guys too.

What's happening right now is a complete make-over, SEC style. We'll see if it works out.

I’ve always wondered why we never use SCC as a pipeline. The Parks brothers consistently are putting kids in D1 programs

Common theme so far with these offers, adding "pop".

Speaking of overhauls, Nebraska baseball has gotten to work this week building its new-look roster for next season after a disappointing 2022 campaign. The Husker coaching staff held postseason meetings with players on the roster this week, and while the headline of six players entering the transfer portal likely raised some eyebrows, it should not have come as a surprise. If players want innings or at-bats, this is the time for coaches to be frank about whether playing time likely needs to come at another school.

Nebraska’s lineup has the potential to look very different next season — we already know that two starting outfielders in Cam Chick and Leighton Banjoff won’t return next season, and catcher Griffin Everitt and infielder Efry Cervantes are among the players who have decisions to make about using Covid years. Pitchers Koty Frank and Shay Schanaman are also mulling decisions about using extra years of eligibility.

The Huskers will add double-digit players next season from the junior college ranks and have several high school players already signed in the 2022 recruiting class who have the ability to help right away next season. Expect more additions from the portal and junior college ranks over the next few weeks.

While the coaches get to work on the recruiting trail, Nebraska’s baseball players are beginning to scatter across the country for summer ball. One destination we’ll keep a close eye on this summer is LaCrosse, Wisconsin. That’s where sophomore-to-be Drew Christo will pitch for the LaCrosse Loggers. Christo had a freshman season that fell short of expectations for a draft prospect with his credentials. Christo will get an opportunity to hone his secondary pitches, while getting plenty of innings in a league known for being a summer grind. Max Anderson will be back in the Cape Cod League this summer, playing for the Wareham Gatemen.
