Penn State and Clemson seem to think the risk is worth the reward curious what makes Nebraska think he’s not.

This is kind of illustrative of my point.

Risk-reward is not an "is this guy is worth getting?" binary - it's a sliding scale based on perceived value to you vs. the potential risk of acquiring. Reward varies for everyone, risk/cost varies for everyone.

He was obviously worth it to us at a certain point, but at some point (like with every player) he stops being worth it. One of the 2 of PSU and Clemson will also determine the same thing at a certain point. This happens with pretty much every player. Now you may disagree with our staff's determination of where it is that he reaches that point, but the concept is universal.

Darren Heitner, Mensah’s lawyer, told The Athletic that a judge ruled from the bench on Tuesday morning, pending a written ruling, denying Duke’s request that Mensah be restricted from entering the transfer portal. Heitner also said that the judge, a Duke basketball season ticket holder, recused himself from future proceedings. There will be another hearing in front of another judge to “flesh through the remainder of Duke’s requests,” according to Heitner, unless the two parties can come to a peaceful resolution prior to that. That hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 2.

Heitner added that, in light of the judge’s ruling, there is nothing in Mensah’s contract that allows Duke to not comply with Mensah’s request to enter the transfer portal. If Duke does not process that request within two business days, it would be in violation of NCAA bylaws. Mensah submitted his request last Friday, the final day of the transfer portal window; because of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, Duke would have until Wednesday to enter Mensah in the portal.

Lawyers representing Duke University did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Smart. Too bad we can’t get our billionaire to help with ice cream cones and happy meals at Nebraska.
