There is no NIL commitment until he graduates and qualifies which would be summer. Not sure how they wouldn’t work that into the deal. You’re not getting paid until you qualify. Maybe someone would top that and say we will pay you now and doesn’t matter if you qualify or not. It’s always a little hard to tell as we don’t have all the info.

A DT popping in this late will draw a big number and probably already be set to go somewhere with how the portal is picked over at this point.

The hs player is a risk too and a bit of a desperation recruit for NU in that he will be getting paid his freshman year as he redshirts and works to qualify. We would then be hoping he stays after he gets eligible. Just a lot of desperate recruitments that I wish we weren’t in heading into year 4. Fingers crossed it works out.
Usually a signing bonus or % of the contract due within X days of signing.

You think that's bad? There were several posters on the Clemson boards who thought he'd have 4 years of eligibility left because he attended a JUCO and not a D1

Either way we gotta hope that RVP comes into his own, the BC defensive tackle over performs and Nebraska can get 4 of these guys to perform at a Big 10 capable level: Gabe Moore, Sua Lefotu, Mason Goldman, Dylan Parrott, David Hoffken, Malcom Simpson or Tyson Terry.

I think you have to have a legitimate 6 DT's in an even front to be able to hold up in the Big 10 and then another 4 DE - Nwaneri, the UCLA guy, Kade Pietrzak and Lenhardt probably?

And then you've gotta have 2-3 guys that can win 1 v 1 on obvious passing downs: McGahee, Nwaneri (yes realize he's on the DE list as well but he needs to become a consistent 3 down guy), Ochoa? Maybe Dylan Rogers?

Between the BC and Pitt DTs it's not a heinously bad haul. Obviously neither are the cream of the crop but you don't have to squint that hard to get to 3 playable DTs and Hoffken and Moore both played some this year.

Now is that going to be good enough? I don't know. It's not the gamble I would make, but I don't get paid $10 million a year

Whoever leaked the maths grades can fuck right off.

It’s a community college… failing maths is a basic requirement.

And now they’ve burned the bridge to Cockeye Western.

Brilliant.

Forgot about the Pitt kid.

I don't think this is true. It isn't uncommon to pay NIL before a HS player is enrolled in college, for example.
Yeah could be. None of the deals make much sense. It just feels like we’re getting our pocket picked, missing out on guys in weird ways. But we don’t know the financial commitment to him just to see if he will become eligible. It is surprising to see PSU get involved if this is that touch and go with his class.

Seriously though, wasn’t there some talk a while back about how JUCO years might not count anymore? It sounds crazy because I remember thinking maybe some place could use a 47 year old power forward. 😀
