Getting this from the Cockeye side so take it with a grain of salt but he wants to be more insulated from boosters and fundraising than they would have him be during the season

He just got a contract extension & a raise to 5 mil a year in August. That's about 47th overall - maybe they're maxed out. Obviously PSU would be looking at more than that to poach him & they're in desperation mode so presumably Campbell has a lot of leverage for whatever demands he wants.

We fucked up not hiring Campbell during the Frost cycle. We would probably be in a much better place today than what we are.
