Saw something online predicting this yesterday. He’s a good coach but for whatever reason Marshall was kind of done with him. He wasn’t under contract past this year. Word is Tony Gibson from NC State may be in line for the Marshall gig.

Now our job is to throw the most massive bag at Marshall’s stud DE.
ESPN article says he turned down an extension because they couldn't agree on the buyout amount for him to leave for a different job.

Seems like in most cases you are better off jumping. It’s hard to keep winning anywhere, let alone an under-resourced place, and then you’ve made an argument for other places not to hire you.

Matt Campbell must wake up every day and look out the window to make sure he really is still stuck in Ames.

Don't kill me but Matt Rhule is literally case in point

Overachieve at Temple -> overachieve at Baylor -> NFL Coach

Meanwhile the bottom falls out at both places. Get while the gettin's good

Just realized that UCF plays North Carolina next year. If they hire belichick, the Frost/Belichick matchup would be must watch, lol

I may be an outlier, but I think an ACC team who hasn't even won a conference championship in 44 years hiring the greatest NFL coach of all time is a home run for them, even if he's past his prime. They don't have a lot of paths to relevance unless/until they join the P2.

I think it's great for him. Probably less pressure to live up to his legacy than if he took another NFL job

Think the Bilicheck stuff is him trying to press a few owners to make a move on their HC and let him interview on a shorter timeline. Supply/Demand and whatnot

Trying to get the kid the job. Now it all makes sense.

Also, I like that he has agreed to be the coach but the people hiring him haven’t.
