Nebraska continues to work to address its offensive line in the transfer portal. The Cornhuskers are set to host New Mexico State offensive tackle Shiyazh Pete on Wednesday, On3’s Steve Wiltfong has learned. Offensive tackle has been a need for Nebraska this portal cycle.

The multi-year starter in Conference-USA previously visited Kentucky and Cockeye State, Michigan, USC, Vanderbilt and Oklahoma State have all shown interest. The veteran played over 1,800 snaps for the Aggies over three seasons with all of them occurring at left tackle.

The 6-foot-8, 320-pound Pete was a 2023 All-Conference USA first-team selection, while in 2024, he didn’t play until Week 8 of the season, starting the Aggie’s final six games at left tackle.

Sources tell Wiltfong that the Cornhuskers are pushing to land Pete. Former Alabama offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett is in Lincoln on Tuesday. The Huskers are considered the program to beat and the On3 RPM reflects that with Steve Wiltfong and I logging predictions in favor of the Big Ten program.

During the 2024 season, Pritchett played in all 12 games, including 10 of which he started at right tackle. During the season, Pritchett was named to the Outland Trophy Watch List and even was named an Outland Player of the Week after beating Wisconsin.

The Huskers lost veteran offensive linemen Bryce Benhart, Micah Mazzccua and Ben Scott to graduation, while Teddy Prochazka, Tyler Knaak and Turner Corcoran had season-ending injuries in 2024.
