2024-25 Portal SZN Thread

I hope it stays and it should make it more tenable to patch together a solid DL in the portal.

That said, they played 8 DL on Saturday and 6 of them are back including 5 with multiple years of eligibility remaining
I was thinking mainly DT though. Who do we have RVP, Jeudy, Lefotu? Tyson Terry is going to be about 25 when he finally gets there so I guess you can count him too. 🤣

Dylan Parrott got a couple reps at NT in the bowl game (Nash's spot). But probably not a bad idea to bring in another nose who can play 1st/2nd downs against teams that run a lot

I'm not totally sure if they keep 3 lineman or if they'll put in a 4th especially if they're light at LB.

A&M, Louisville, Arizona, and now in the portal again.

I absolutely don't like these types of guys. Neyor and Mazzcua were these types of guys. I'm suspicious of the LB we took from OU for the same reason. At the end and the chips are down against Cockeye will they dig deep?

I don't mind portal dudes moving up in competition or a young guy who was buried or had a coach leave and is looking for a fresh start. But these 3&4 school cowboys ain't here to bleed for the team in most cases. For every one good you have to sift through 5 mercs.

I don't know why we are wasting our time with this guy or the guy that went to UCF there has to be the same level or better player in the portal without all the baggage.

I wonder about why we are chasing hard after some guys who are starters at G5 or FCS vice going after P4 guys who were ranked and recruited over. Maybe starting experience is greater than talent? I can understand that it worked well for Indiana this year, but once they played top teams with elite talent such as Ohio State or Notre Dame, they got exposed. I can see this maybe working for some skill position players such as punter or kicker, RB, and maybe WR. But along the lines, feel like developing and keeping those players is where the money is at since they are the foundations for both the offense and defense.

I agree with you on guys like this but the guy from OU you take 10/10 times, especially when it’s much needed depth
