So there’s lots of steam around Graham Harrell coming in to be our next OC. Assuming this happens, someone on RRS found this interesting article about a recent USC QB decommit:

“Here’s an interesting twist: Brown is super close to Graham Harrell and Seth Doege so where they end up coaching next season could be considered by the four-star quarterback. Nothing is off-limits right now.

“Those are my guys,” Brown said.”

So IF Harrell comes here, and IF we had an opportunity to bring this kid in for at least a visit…I’m curious how we’d handle our 2022 QB situation.

If this Brown kid wanted N do we cut Torres loose? Would be an upgrade for us but a really shitty thing to do to Torres right before signing day. Would we take 2 high school QBs? Would we still take a portal QB if we took 2 high school QBs?

Lots of moving parts. Can you bring in Brown, Torres, and a grad transfer? Does Harrell like Torres at all? Would you run off Smothers or Haarberg?

Frost shouldn't concern himself with "shitty things to do" at this point. He can't afford to get the next 3 months wrong if he wants to have even a miniscule chance of being the head coach at Nebraska beyond next Thanksgiving (approximately)

This is so spot on. We need a flawless offseason from him - the hires, the portal incoming, and keeping some key parts from portal outgoing.

Hire your offensive staff, get a coherent plan that everyone is on board with, and move forward filling the pieces for that plan.

Damn this is easy…

Yeah. The window for Frost to build something is effectively closed. He has to go into survival mode and figure out how to juice the roster with the portal and OC hires to compete for the west title next year because planning for 3 years from now is irrelevant

Yeah. Being able to bring in Brown and a portal qb would be absolute best case scenario.

Frost is an arrogant, narcissistic prick. A tiger doesn't change his stripes and he hasn't changed since he got here. To expect anything to change between now and next season is wishful thinking. These coaching hires are no more than some poo pourri on this diarrhea shit show we have seen the past 4 seasons. Maybe we will see an about face this off season but Im not holding my breath.

As long it’s legal, I don’t care what is shitty or not. Personal feelings/agenda got us 3 wins this year, drop Torres, hire guys who will win & tell the religious/political opinions to stfu & let’s win some games. Hopefully Turd is the leader we’ve been missing the last 2 decades.

I do not care if it's legal...

Brown is a composite .9741 on 247. Seems like he would be an upgrade over Torres.
He’s clearly an upgrade, just curious if we think Frost would have to stones to cut Torres loose at this point if the need arose.

It would be a shitty thing to do to Torres for sure. But as someone has already posted Frost doesn't have time to worry about being shitty to a kid...he needs to win and actually make shitty decisions for his future. The time for "feel good" stories is over. Time for Scotty to shit or get off the pot.

I honestly doubt if Harrell comes here anyway.

With so many spots open - why not say fuck it and take 2 QB? Honor your commitment to a kid late in the game, and take the swing over commit from a stud.

Is this guy mexican or can he change his name?

If Nebraska is able to hire Harrell, which I believe is the plan, I would actually keep Torres committed and bring both Brown and Torres if possible. I would even bring a Transfer into the mix if necessary.

I doubt the Brown kid cares about the competition. And Torres is coming off a knee injury with very little leverage. Torres is a really interesting prospect. The kid can sling it all over the yard.

I believe Nebraska will have a lot more available scholarships than anticipated.

I am very intrigued with what Torres looks like with some coaching. He looks to have a very high ceiling.
