Yep, 100% agree. With that said, I feel like I do actually really like the coaching adds on the defensive side of the ball. I hope that they are at least able to enable us to make a small jump. I'm off the Dana train, but still have a little bit of hope that he can take Colandrea to the next level and get is to a 8-4. My happy endings badge is showing as the 5-7 is much more realistic.Talking to my buddies the last couple of weeks, I have been saying just make a bowl game and I'll be happy, no chance Rhule is canned in 2026, but likely in 2027 if the start isn't blazing hot. But after seeing the schedule and home/away, IMO there's a legit chance at 5-0 and then 0-7 the rest of the way with some really bad losses and Rhule not being here in 2027,
Defensively: New voice, new guy, new eyes, great. Is our DLine any bigger and stronger? IMO until I see some increase on body weights or adding a 4th on the line or something like that, not much going to change defensively. New schemes are cool and all, are our DLineman any bigger so they aren't manhandled off the line again? We'll see.Yep, 100% agree. can you imagine have the thread style board today where each different reply has a chain 🤣One of my favorite things from the good ol days of RRS was when people would try and post a Poll and they would put "Poll" in the title and then RRS would also automatically insert "POLL" so it would come out as "POLL: Poll - Best Steakhouse in Vegas." It's the little things.
Thread view vs topic view arguments were another one of my favorites. I would pick different sides of the argument to keep the debate going where necessary.can you imagine have the thread style board today where each different reply has a chain 🤣
Agreed, I think on D that Aurich, similar to that first D that Rhule had, where they might not have been the best athletes and size, but they played hard as hell and thumped. Starting that first Minnesota game, I actually was like "Man, maybe Rhule can turn it around" just because I liked the style of D that team had. Ran to the ball, hit and just seemed to be in good position for the most part and a lot of times was just killed by how bad the O was. It's all up in the air, but I just hope Aurich and Wade can change the mentality of this team being "soft". We were charmin soft this year and I hate that being from Nebraska. If we suck, we suck, but let's not be a bunch of pussies.Defensively: New voice, new guy, new eyes, great. Is our DLine any bigger and stronger? Offensively: It's not that I think time has passed Holgerson by, as everyone tries to be innovative with the spread now days and continue to try and innovate ways to get guys in space, as much as I just don't think Rhule's and Holgo's offensively philosophies match, and I'm also not convinced that Rhule is completely sold on what he wants to do offensively in the Big 10 at this point in time? And if that isn't decided, then it doesn't matter who your OC or QB are.
And this is the worst schedule possible to simply not have an idea as a program going on 4 years in.
Why are we talking about this during basketball season? We are a basketball school now it has been determined
Hot take, IMO, if I may? I don't think it matters who your coach is on whether or not your team is soft, from the head man down. I personally think it's all about the individual player, and just who they are. I don't think you can teach someone to be be soft or not be soft, it's just who they are and what they've had to handle in life up to that point. But, being soft or not comes with talent, or no talent, and unfortunately we usually miss out on big time talent across the board because we don't win enough. You can be tough as shit as a 275 lb NT in the Big 10 and still get bullied off the line cause you're 30-40 lbs lighter than the Center from Michigan.Agreed, I think on D that Aurich, similar to that first D that Rhule had, where they might not have been the best athletes and size, but they played hard as hell and thumped.
