Seems like the nugs and staff have been pretty open that the GM doesn’t value paying the RB positionEJ tell you that?
Just a Hunch.Nebraska basing their RB room on hoping Miami loses?
I have never seen a similar analytics study for college ball but NFL analytics suggest the running game is not a major factor in winning games. Intuitively I think college is somewhat different.Seems like the nugs and staff have been pretty open that the GM doesn’t value paying the RB position
There is absolutely no logic in signing a qb with a history of turnovers and then standing pat on your RB room and allowing it to take a huge step backwards. The RB deal is not on Barthel. He's been in contact with about every good RB in the portal. It's a Rhule/Stewart deal and how they value RBs.
Which is why Butler had no interest in stopping the run while he was DC. Was treating it to much like the NFL.I have never seen a similar analytics study for college ball but NFL analytics suggest the running game is not a major factor in winning games. Intuitively I think college is somewhat different.
That might make sense when you’re talking about the difference between Kyren Williams and Derrick Henry.I have never seen a similar analytics study for college ball but NFL analytics suggest the running game is not a major factor in winning games. Intuitively I think college is somewhat different.
Same crew that thought we were fine on DL last year, you tell me.There is absolutely no logic in signing a qb with a history of turnovers and then standing pat on your RB room and allowing it to take a huge step backwards.
They can’t be that blind.
There's a far bigger gap between an elite RB and an average RB in collegeI have never seen a similar analytics study for college ball but NFL analytics suggest the running game is not a major factor in winning games. Intuitively I think college is somewhat different.
I expect that he will returnThat sucks
Pun intendedI expect that he will return
I'm an old manPun intended
Some stats Indiana and Oregon are 1 & 2 in rushing in the B1G, Ole Miss was 3rd in the SEC and Miami kind of an outlier was 6th in the ACC. I’d say the running game is almost a necessity to win in CFB.I have never seen a similar analytics study for college ball but NFL analytics suggest the running game is not a major factor in winning games. Intuitively I think college is somewhat different.
What value do you put on RB? NU has an All-B1G RB on its roster this past season and when QB1 went down the offense tanked. I think it’s obvious what the implied value of RB is. They just need to be good. The RB deal is not on Barthel. He's been in contact with about every good RB in the portal. It's a Rhule/Stewart deal and how they value RBs.
Seems like positive updates to meFrom Timmy knows
(Update 1/8/26 8:00 a.m) JUCO DL sets visit, other DL transfer targets emerge
After offering Cockeye Western Community College defensive lineman Andy Burburjia on Wednesday, Nebraska is now tentatively scheduled to host the JUCO defensive linemen on Saturday, Jan. 10.
Hutchinson Community College defensive tackle Jeffrey Manns II is another to monitor. The 6-foot-3, 300 pounder has recently landed offers from the likes of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Arizona State. Inside Nebraska has also learned the Huskers are among standout schools for Maryland transfer defensive lineman Dillan Fontus, who notes 20+ programs are showing interest, but Nebraska is among seven he’s seriously consideirng, alongside the likes of Ohio State, Florida, Alabama and South Carolina. The Huskers are at least monitoring his former teammate, Maryland transfer Sedrick Smith, a 6-foot-4, 315-pound redshirt sophomore who entered the portal on Wednesday.
(Update 1/7/26 8:30 p.m. JUCO DL planning visit)
Nebraska offered Cockeye Western Community College defensive lineman Andy Burburjia, who stands 6’2, 295lbs and totaled 45 tackles, 12 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss this fall for the Reivers. He tells me he’s planning a visit “pretty soon.”
(Update 1/7/26 5:00 p.m.) Nebraska extends new OL offer
Nebraska has offered FIU interior offensive lineman Jaheim Buchanon and working to get the 6-foot-4, 300lb redshirt sophomore on campus in the very near future. Buchanon started 13 games this fall at left guard, earning 2025 All-CUSA Second Team Offense honors for his play. He has prior experience at center as well. Buchanon is currently visiting TCU.
(Update 1/7/26 9:00 a.m.) Two Huskers in the portal set to return
Lost in the chaos of Tuesday’s portal news, redshirt freshman safety Braylen Prude removed his name from the transfer portal and will return to Nebraska. The Huskers are also trending to retain redshirt freshman defensive backLarry Tarver Jr., two relatively young members of the roster they’re still excited about. Prude is a slow burn, but Nebraska would ideally like to see out his development through 4-5 seasons.
